Updates

  • Advice for food businesses during water supply issues: Southern Water has supply issues currently affecting some properties in the New Forest https://lnkd.in/evQQ6h3h If you are food business and you do not have a water supply, you need to think carefully about whether it is safe for your business to operate. You need to think about: - How staff will be able to wash their hands - The toilet facilities available for staff - The measures in place to clean and disinfect equipment - Whether the menu can be restricted to foods requiring little or no handling, or to drinks only. If you do stay open, you must ensure that customers understand that you do not have toilet facilities. If in doubt, you should not open.

  • Leader, Cllr Jill Cleary's, statement in response to the publication of the English Devolution White Paper: "The government has now published its devolution white paper, including the potential for merging district councils into larger unitary authorities. We are reviewing the content and implications of the proposals in the English Devolution White Paper. For our people and place, we remain steadfast to our primary goal of delivering exceptional services to our community. My commitment remains to ensure the New Forest has a strong voice in the discussions to come."

  • This week, we welcomed the Local Government Association to our district for a corporate peer challenge. The visit was an important opportunity to reflect on our progress as a council and explore how we can develop and deliver our ambitions for the district and the communities we serve. We’ll be receiving a full report from the LGA in the new year, which will be shared on our website. From there, we’ll be using the feedback to shape and develop an action plan for the future. Thank you to the team for their time and expertise, and all our staff, partners, businesses and tenants who were involved in providing feedback. It’s been a really valuable experience.
