  • Last week, we hosted our final bi-monthly Chat & Learn session of the year with our amazing members, and what a session it was! We had an open and honest discussion about protecting our well-being while working with clients and potential clients. The conversation was so supportive, encouraging, and insightful, it’s moments like these that remind us how important it is to share and learn together. Of course, we couldn’t wrap up the year without a bit of festive fun, so we ended with a cheeky Christmas quiz! 🎅 Both Helen and I are so grateful to our members and incredibly proud of the supportive, inspiring group of VAs in our network. Here’s to more growth, connection, and learning together in the new year! #vacommunity #neurohub #collaboration #support #learningtogether

The festive season can be magical, but it can also be overwhelming, especially if you’re navigating the holidays as a neurodiverse individual. I understand how tough this time can be, with sensory overload, changes in routine, and social pressures. Here are some gentle tips to help you or your loved ones find calm and joy during the holidays: ➡️ Take it at your pace: It’s okay to say no to plans that feel too much or leave early if you need to. Your comfort comes first, always. ➡️ Create a safe space: Whether you’re at home or visiting loved ones, have a quiet spot where you can retreat if things feel overwhelming. A favourite book, headphones, or a cosy blanket can make all the difference. ➡️ Plan ahead: Having a clear idea of what’s happening can reduce anxiety. Write down plans, share schedules with family, or even role-play social interactions if that helps. ➡️ Stick to your comforts: The holidays don’t have to mean letting go of routines that keep you grounded. Hold onto the rituals that bring you calm and joy. ➡️ Be honest about your needs: If lights, sounds, or crowds are too much, share this with your loved ones. Most people want to support you, they just need to know how. ➡️ Simplify gift time: If unwrapping gifts is stressful, suggest quiet exchanges, staggered openings, or even digital gifts. It’s okay to make this part work for you. ➡️ Build in breaks: Take time to breathe, rest, and recharge. A few moments of quiet can go a long way in helping you enjoy the day. ➡️ Lean into what brings you Joy: Whether it’s a cosy night in, baking your favourite treats, or watching a familiar movie, focus on what makes you happy. Remember, Christmas is yours to celebrate in a way that feels safe, calm, and joyful for you. You don’t need to fit anyone else’s idea of “festive.” You’re enough just as you are. If this resonates, or if you have your own tips for a neurodiverse friendly Christmas, I’d love to hear them in the comments ⬇️ #deva #neurodiversity #caringchristmas #sensoryfriendlyholidays #youareenough
