As 2024 draws to an end, we’re looking back at everything #NZIW has achieved so far⚡ 📆 Hosting the first #EmpowerCymru — bringing together Welsh industry and manufacturing, academia, the public sector and investors to map Wales’ path to decarbonisation. 💼 Supporting Innovate UK on the South West Wales Launchpad — inviting SMEs to apply for grants from the £7.5M UK government funding for decarbonisation initiatives. 🤝 Establishing a partnership with Natural Resources Wales — helping to facilitate the planning approval process for essential decarbonisation projects. 🏭 Progressing the NEWID plan — completing initial stakeholder engagement to promote the development and deployment of decarbonisation projects across North East Wales. 💬 Partnering with The Royal Mint, Make UK and CR Plus to begin conversations around the formation of an industrial cluster in Llantrisant.

Net Zero Industry Wales, working alongside the South Wales Industrial Cluster, is proud to have supported RWE in securing planning approval for its Green Hydrogen Plant. This marks a huge step towards the clean energy revolution for Wales and the UK as a whole 👏

The industrial clusters bring significant opportunities in the transition to net zero. During a roundtable discussion we hosted earlier this Autumn at the Western Gateway convention, we explored the barriers South Wales Industrial Cluster, West of England Industrial Cluster and Net Zero Industry Wales are facing together with cluster leads and key stakeholders in the region.   We have identified the six top barriers impacting the industrial clusters and delivery of net zero infrastructure projects in the South West of England and Wales. Panasonic has just shared another #netzero power move for Wales ⚡ Last week, our CEO Ben Burggraaf visited the 50-year-old manufacturing plant in Cardiff — which has been fitted with a combination of hydrogen fuel cells powered by green hydrogen, solar PV and battery storage — with hydrogen generated by Protium from University of South Wales’ Hydrogen Research Centre🔋
