  • Congratulations to our Chief Executive, John Flint, who has been appointed CBE in the King’s New Years Honours List for his contribution to public service. John said: “It has been a privilege to take my 30 years of experience in the banking sector and apply it to two the of the great challenges of our time – driving growth and tackling climate change. “Along the way, I have witnessed the impact the private and public sector can have when they work in tandem, and I have enjoyed leading a hugely talented and committed team. I am honoured to be recognised for this work in this way.”

  • 2024 has been a big year for us, transforming into the #NationalWealthFund with £27.8bn to drive investment and growth. Working in partnership with our clients and fellow investors, we are helping to remove some of the barriers to financing in sectors which will play a critical role in the UK’s #growth mission and in reaching #NetZero. Here are some of our highlights: - Investing to help connect hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses to high-speed broadband in hard to reach and rural areas. - Making our first retrofit investments, deploying £750m in guarantees to support the retrofit of up to 127,000 social homes. - Supporting 26 local authorities through our advisory service, helping them accelerate progress towards their net zero ambitions. - Backing new technology in long duration energy storage to help bring it to commercial scale. We wish you all the best for the festive season and look forward to working with you in 2025!

  • It’s great to see the fantastic progress being made at the Port of Tyne following our £50m commitment last year. NWF financing is now being utilised to support the regeneration of four hectares of land at the Port’s Tyne Dock Enterprise Park site. Once complete, the development will provide a new base for the growing green industries in the area, including North Sea offshore wind. The NWF’s investment has helped the Port of Tyne to raise a combined £100m of private finance for this key project in the North East. This is enabling the Port to accelerate the regeneration and expansion of this crucial site, supporting the green transition and creating high skilled jobs, driving growth across the region.

  • We welcome the government’s Clean Power Action Plan, published today, which sets out how it aims to achieve the target of clean power by 2030, protecting households from energy price spikes and boosting economic growth. #Energy Secretary Ed Miliband set out a detailed plan with measures to get more homegrown clean power to people. These include: prioritising the most important projects; speeding up decisions on planning permission by empowering planners to prioritise critical energy infrastructure; and expanding the renewable auction process. We’ve financed a wide range of #CleanEnergy projects, including solar generation, energy storage, port infrastructure for offshore wind and green hydrogen. If you have a clean energy project with a financing gap you’d like to speak to us about, get in touch: https://lnkd.in/eUqtpJ77 #NWF #NationalWealthFund

📣 Published today, our Clean Power Action Plan outlines how we're going to reach clean power by 2030. It's the most ambitious reform to our energy system in a generation and represents a new era of electricity planning, building and generation. Part of the Prime Minister’s Plan for Change, it focuses on getting more clean power into, and around our energy system. And outlines how we’re going to reform and speed up the way decisions are made about building and connecting our renewable energy projects to the grid. It will get us off the roller coaster of international fossil fuel markets - protecting consumers and businesses. It also sets out how we will deliver the generation and infrastructure to reach our goal - giving investors the confidence to invest, boosting supply chains and supporting new jobs. • We're pleased to see that contracts for the first #CCUS projects in the UK have now been signed, meaning construction of the East Coast Cluster in Teesside will start next year and enable a critical industry for the UK’s #NetZero journey. Carbon capture is a priority sector for the #NationalWealthFund, as announced by the Government in October. We’re here to work with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and the private sector to catalyse future investment to support the sector and industrial heartlands across the UK. If you have a CCUS project you want to talk to us about, get in touch: https://lnkd.in/eUqtpJ77

We have signed contracts with the CCUS East Coast Cluster and construction is set to start in 2025. This marks a major milestone for our new industry following the funding announcement in October. 2,000 jobs will be supported initially with tens of thousands more to follow in the next few years. This shows what happens when ambition, innovation and investment come together. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gzTkTVDJ

  • We’re working with Brighton & Hove City Council to help identify investment models that will support the city to reach #NetZero. The council is exploring how it can support large-scale delivery of low carbon and energy-efficient homes and transport. As part of an ongoing advisory engagement we recently held a workshop, in which the council’s Net Zero team examined what has worked elsewhere, what would fit Brighton & Hove and potential financial approaches and models. Stuart Leslie, Director Local Authority Advisory & Lending at the #NationalWealthFund, said: “Local authorities have ambitious targets to deliver projects which support the transition to net zero and deliver economic growth, and our impartial advisory service is designed to support them in realising their goals. We look forward to continuing to work with Brighton & Hove as they seek to bring together public and private investment to support large-scale delivery of low carbon energy projects across the city.” Find out more about our advisory work with local authorities: https://lnkd.in/eidf4JBK
