I couldn't wait till next week so sneaked my 52nd and final hike of 2024 in this afternoon. Strong winds meant I had the summit to myself but no time to sit and reflect on the moment. Heartfelt thanks to everyone that has supported me with their cash and company in support of Mind Over Mountains. This was climb 52 of 52 and for now that's all folks!

So delighted to see this from our founding patron The Westgrove Group - joining with us to Rise Every Day and move for wellbeing this January - as part of the RED January community. What a positive way to head into 2025! Thank you team Westgrove!
In January, we are inviting all our collegaues to join the RED Together movement and Rise Every Day to support their mental health, one step at a time. Not a Christmas message (despite the Santa hat!). So why are we in RED? Because we have all signed up to take part in! Something positive to look forward to in the New Year. Something to make January brighter. Not a 'get fit' pressure - but a simple commitment to Rise Every Day and move in a way that works for each of us. Some are running, some are walking, some are yoga-ing - and some are doing a mix. And signing up to dance around the kitchen every day is also just as acceptable! This is about making January light up, sharing the experience to support each other, and being part of the UK wide RED community. A mass campaign to support our own mental wellbeing in a month that can feel less than bright at times. And raising funds for Mind Over Mountains to provide outdoor mental health support as we do it. Will you and your team join too? Such a GREAT way to feel positive and motivated together this January. https://lnkd.in/e8MAsxHs Go on! Join in today - it's a wonderful thing to look forward to 😄 #redjanuary #positivity #movement #moveyourway #riseeveryday #newyear #mentalhealth #mentalwellbeing #teamwellbeing

As change happens, we want to know immediately if its going to be good or bad for us so we can prepare. Not knowing triggers our minds to try and "think" our way to certainty. As I hiked up Pen y Fan today I realised this is exactly what I've been doing with some very compressed change that's happening around me. Then I remembered one of the very first things that Mind Over Mountains talk about on their hikes in nature, a sensory tune up where you focus on experiencing the present moment through your senses. It's such a simple practice but very powerful and something anyone can learn and do whenever they want to get out of their own heads for a while. And doing it surrounded by nature, even the thick fog of today, can be especially effective. That's just one of the many reasons I've been hiking up Pen y Fan every week in 2024 to raise awareness of the incredible work of Mind Over Mountains. I'm over the moon at exceeding my target of £5,200 but there's still two more weeks to go so if you can donate then please do, especially at a time of year which many struggle with. This was climb 50 of 52!

A tale of resilience and determination. Our amazing founder Alex Staniforth heads out onto the moors this Friday to tackle the final section of the Coast to Coast. And to arrive at his destination before the fish and chip shop closes! Go Alex! In recognition of the spirit of the season, and supporting such brilliant perseverance … could you help Alex hit his fundraising target for #Project500? Thank you 🙏🏻 https://lnkd.in/eVPjsQTN

Take #3. Time to finish what I started... Starting at midnight this Friday, I'll be running the final 60 miles of the Coast to Coast route to Robin Hood's Bay across the North York Moors. It's not the challenge I originally set out to achieve. But my body won't handle 186 miles right now and I want to close the chapter ready for my next big challenge in the Spring. I'll be running solo across the moors with over 7,000ft of ascent, and supplies in the van at a few checkpoints. The weather looks fairly pleasant if a tad chilly. The Fish & Chip shop closes at 4pm... Attempt 1 on July 5th ended after 78 miles in 21 hours with a seizure (+ losing my driving licence for 12 months) Attempt 2 on August 14th ended after 124 miles in 44 hours with a combo of hyponatremia and sleep deprivation. Experience keeps you alive in the mountains and I'm grateful for the chance to try again and put these lessons into practice. It would mean the world if I can hit my original fundraising target for Mind Over Mountains and our #Project500 in the process too. A big thanks to everyone who's already donated and if you haven't - please think of me when you're comfy at home and spare what you can :) https://lnkd.in/eGzTWnxr

As we work to extend our outdoor mental health support to more & more people across the UK, the support of our partners is so vital. Today we want to thank the team at KE Adventure Travel for their unwavering loyalty year on year, their positivity about what we do, and their determination as a team to fundraise at a personal level for us. Our own small, remote working team here at Mind Over Mountains feels such a boost each time we hear about the latest thing you are doing to support our work. And it was lovely to see you in person at Kendal Mountain Events this year! Genuine partnership in action, which drives the engine here. And keeps us smiling! https://lnkd.in/eABM7wFM #adventuretravel #mentalhealthcharity #mentalfitness #fundraising #charitypartnership
