Last night I attended the British Journalism Awards from Press Gazette for the first time. I was cheerleading for Farmers Weekly's very own Abi Kay who was shortlisted for the Social Affairs, Diversity & Inclusion Journalism award. It was a brilliant spectacle. In a room that was full to the brim with national press, mainstream media and TV personalities winning awards Abi's work shining a light on some uncomfortable truths in our own agricultural sector from earlier in the summer was one of only a few to be 'Highly Commended' on the night. Despite losing out to the mighty BBC Panorama in her category (which let's face it is no disgrace) it was heartening to see this work get the industry recognition it deserved and her name up in lights. Obligatory selfie at my last event of the year last night, the HR Excellence Awards. I’ve not even had the chance to count up everything I’ve covered yet, but this year my work has taken me near, far and wide, across the UK and the Atlantic. Not bad for a lad whose first commissioned photography job was capturing a match at Epsom & Ewell FC for the local newspaper back in 2007.

Thank you to everyone who attended/ exhibited/ sponsored Manufacturing & Engineering North East (MENE) . This was our second year at the Vertu Motors Arena and it already feels like home. The 2024 event saw an increase of 55% in exhibitors and 34% in visitor foot fall. We have secured new partnerships working with the Advanced Manufacturing Forum, which will continue in 2025 and the show will once again grow to fill the hall. New features and speakers are already being planned for next year- we hope you can join us again on the 27th November 2025 back at the Vertu Arena.
