  • We’re excited to share that while Love Design Studio will continue to have a base in Islington, we’re also setting up a new office in Hackney and we’re taking an intentionally thrifty approach to furnishing it 💚 Love Zero Waste Our goal? Avoid buying anything new. Instead, we’re focusing on repurposed, donated, or recycled furniture to create a space that aligns with our values. We’re taking it slow: no rushing, no unnecessary purchases, just thoughtful decisions to ensure we only bring in what we truly need. Here’s what we’re on the lookout for: 🪑 Desks 📚 Bookshelves ❄️ Fridge 🖥 Chairs 🛋 Sofas or lounge chairs for breakout spaces ☕ Kitchen essentials If you have items that need a second life or know of resources that can help, we’d love to hear from you! #SustainableOffice #CircularEconomy #LoveDesignStudio

  • Marking the fifth instalment in our Employee Spotlight series, we would like to introduce Polly Turton, our resident Head of Climate Action and Public Health. Polly occupies a relatively unique spot here, as her dual role spans across both Love Design Studio and our sister company, Shade the UK. As such, we thought it would be interesting to dig into her role and discover more about the crucial work she contributes to across both organisations. Click the link for the full spotlight interview to learn more about Polly and our work on climate action and public health.  https://lnkd.in/e3CaJJbJ #LoveDesignStudio #ClimateAction #builtenvironment #ShadetheUK #ClimateAdaptation #PublicHealth #ClimateResilience

Managing Director // Founder // Love Design Studio & Shade the UK

This project with The Grantham Institute is hands down the one I’m most proud of since starting Shade the UK. Soon we will release our report and host a webinar (4th December) with LSE and the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change & the Environment to share what we've been working on in Islington, which combines the stories of those affected with detailed thermal analysis of the buildings and spaces where our most vulnerable people live. We chose Islington because, due to its geolocation, environment, architecture, and population, it is projected to be one of the most affected areas in the UK by rising temperatures. Working with the Grantham Institute feels like coming full circle. I’ve been hooked ever since attending my first Grantham Annual Lecture in 2015, where Mary Robinson spoke about Climate Justice; it completely reshaped my thinking about climate action (and got me off the carbon tunnel vision). Since then, I’ve been a regular at their events (personal favourite: Brian Eno’s talk on how the creative industries can inspire climate action!). This collaboration has been a real honour, and we can’t wait to share more about it with you all. Please see the details below on the webinar we’d love for you to join us and keep an eye out for the report! Thank you to the Shade the UK and Love Design Studio teams :) and of course Dr Candice Howarth & Anna Beswick for trusting us with this work.

We're driving forward ESG at Hunters - The Furniture Company As part of our commitment to Sustainability and wider ESG, we're partnering with Love Design Studio to create an Impact Report and Net Zero roadmap. A key part of this process is internal input and engagement and so we recently held a workshop session to develop our ESG targets and to understand what we've already done and where we want to be in the future. It was an engaging session with all participants coming away feeling energised and excited about the future of ESG both in our business and our industry. #ESG #Sustainability

  • Love Design Studio carried out an energy study of the Barbican Estate on behalf of City of London Corporation and The Recognised Tenants Association (RTA).   Parametric modelling techniques were used to assess retrofit interventions across the +2,000 dwellings. A cost benefit analysis then helped City of London and the RTA understand what the potential carbon, energy and cost savings were and their effectiveness.
