At LCL Awards, we're proud to highlight training centres that go above and beyond! Universal Skills Group was shortlisted for our Innovation Award earlier in the year. The centre offers courses in Gas, Electric, Solar, and EV technologies, meeting the diverse needs of students pursuing careers in installation, maintenance, or design. With tailored training to fit individual goals, they're shaping the future of the energy industry. Judges were particularly taken with "Electric Avenue' - a purpose-built street environment, where learners can put their skills into practice with a simulated training program offering real-life settings. Commercial Training Manager, Louise Young says, "We work hard to make our training here relevant. Committed to staying ahead of industry trends and advancements, our curriculum is regularly updated to reflect the latest technological innovations and regulatory changes, ensuring our students pass their qualifications with relevant and up-to-date skills." LCL Awards reposted this
I am pleased by yesterday's Warm Homes announcement, which overall shows the government’s continued commitment to the drive to Net Zero and the Electrification of Heat. The additional funds put towards the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) in 25/26 will support market growth and changes to the Clean Heat Market Mechanism are pragmatic, allowing UK manufacturers to invest in heat pumps and ultimately bolster our economy. The move to a low carbon future has financial as well as environmental benefits. Well done to Ideal Heating for winning over £5m to bolster heat pump production capacity. Let’s hope that better supply chains and increased volume will lead to reduced costs to the consumer. You can read the full statement from government, here: https://lnkd.in/eNQuuzR2

Joanne Kelly speaks to her journey of landing her perfect job and the value women have to bring to the engineering space. "It's not just the technical side of things, women naturally have many of the soft skills that engineers need to do their job effectively. Empathy can be very powerful, and I use it in my role here as a trainer and assessor, where we are encouraged to offer our candidates all the support they need. We work hard to ensure our centre is inclusive, somewhere where employees, customers and acquaintances feel safe, respected and valued - LCL Awards helps its centres promote these values through its Inclusivity Charter. We believe equity and diversity are essential to academic excellence and contribute to an inclusive and vibrant learning and working experience."
