Empowering Student Entrepreneurs Through Startup Stories Last night we held another enriching Startup Social for Durham University students and graduates interested in entrepreneurship. These events invite inspirational speakers to share their startup journeys - the successes, challenges, and lessons learned. Paul Stafford and Steve Bowden were pleased to host Leo Thomson, co-founder of Local Energy Systems. Leo vividly brought to life the origin story of this ambitious venture disrupting the energy sector. Leo reflected on the exhilarating uncertainty and relentless work his passion for sustainability and collective action is driving for meaningful impact and innovation. The attendees gained many insights on leveraging university resources like mentors and incubators to turn a big idea into reality. Leo encouraged them to take risks, build resilience, and surround themselves with a talented, committed team - advice applicable to any field. The Startup Social connects our community and expands what's possible for a founder's career. The Venture Lab will continue spreading this empowerment through real stories from our visionary alumni, supporters, and partners.
