Today marks a significant milestone as the Government launches the new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) from Alconbury Weald - a place that JTP is proud to have designed as part of our commitment to creating sustainable and thriving communities. As a practice, we believe in designing places that enrich lives, and Alconbury Weald embodies this vision. Setting a new benchmark for thoughtful, people-centered planning, Alconbury Weald is a thriving, exemplary community home to over 1,000 dwellings, a new primary school, a local centre, sports facilities, community buildings, extensive green spaces and 290,000 sqm of employment floorspace including the Cambridge County Council headquarters. The updated NPPF has the potential to shape the future of our built environment, ensuring that planning prioritises sustainability, placemaking, and inclusivity. To see it launched from a project JTP has designed with Urban&Civic is both inspiring and rewarding - underscoring the importance of collaboration between masterplanners, designers, planners and communities in creating a legacy of well-designed places. It is great to see the spotlight on Alconbury Weald and we look forward to the positive impacts the NPPF will bring across the UK. #NPPF #newcommunities #masterplanning #alconburyweald #housingdelivery #placemaking #design #architecture

Representing a culmination of seven years of involvement, design work and community engagement, a detailed planning application has been submitted for the new Blackbird Leys Community Centre, marking the final piece in the Blackbird Leys regeneration. Working in collaboration with Jessop & Cook Architects, and our clients Peabody and Oxford City Council, JTP has been lead consultant on the project with responsibility for the external design, shell and core, and the coordination of the design. Standing as a focal point within the neighbourhood, features will include; 🏬 A modern three-storey building with flexible spaces like community halls, a communal garden, rentable offices, and breakout spaces. 🎨 A bold, colourful façade inspired by the colours of the blackbird to reference the Leys namesake in the design. 🌳 A reimagined public realm designed by Ireland Albrecht Landscape Architects, featuring greenery, seating, and an event space to bring the community together. 💭 A community engagement process led by Transition by Design Co-operative which included setting up a Leys Community Review Panel (LCRP) to act as an independent, advisory role during the design process. JTP had the privilege of visiting two fantastic schemes by British Land over the last week. A huge thank you to Georgina Weller and Sam McCorry for hosting us at Canada Water; an insightful visit and extraordinary development putting Canada Water on the map…not to mention the breathtaking views from the 18th floor!🌆 We also want to extend our gratitude to Stewart Kendall for the inspiring site tour of Alma in Aldgate East. As build-to-rent continues to reshape urban living, it's exciting to see how thoughtful design and high-quality construction are setting new benchmarks for the sector. It’s always a privilege to experience innovative projects like these firsthand and to connect with such talented professionals. Thanks again for sharing your time and expertise! #sitevisits #canadawater #buildtorent #regeneration #design #placemaking #architecture

What does "legacy" look like when designing new communities and neighbourhoods? In The Academy of Urbanism (AoU)'s Autumn Edition of their Here & Now publication, JTP's Managing Partner Marcus Adams examines the concept of legacy by reflecting on two significant places conceived over a decade ago - Graylingwell Park, Chichester and Cholsey Meadows, South Oxfordshire. Legacy is about building places that endure - rich with stories, connections, and purpose. Marcus' piece details the successes and challenges of designing these new communities, with a number of lessons that were learnt along the way.
