What an excellent way to wrap up 2024 with the structural topping out ceremony of The Other House Covent Garden. An extremely complex project we've been working on for a number of years with the redevelopment of a block of 7 individual buildings, 4 of which are listed, within the Covent Garden Conservation Area. We've successfully achieved our aim of reusing the majority of the existing structure and converting the existing block into a new hotel. It's taken a monumental effort in collaborative working with Falconer Chester Hall, Introba and Ellmers to achieve this milestone and will be great to see the final completion in 2025. Congratulations to the HTS structural team of Susan Mantle, Harry Harper-Dowe and Michael Burn!

📣 Project Spotlight: Princeton University | Geoexchange Central Plant As part of Princeton University’s commitment to net-zero carbon emissions, Introba is delivering mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and design analytic services for the Geoexchange Central Plant at the Lake Campus in West Windsor, NJ. At the heart of the project is the TIGER CUB (Thermally Integrated Geothermal Energy Resource Central Utility Building), an innovative solution delivering cost-efficient, reliable heating and cooling infrastructure. Designed to align with Princeton’s Infrastructure Master Plan, TIGER CUB integrates a vertical closed-loop geoexchange system and thermal energy storage to optimize energy performance and sustainability. Working closely with Princeton, Introba is mitigating project risks to ensure delivery on time and within budget while helping the university achieve its carbon reduction goals. ⭐ Empowering the Next Generation of Female Engineers in Passive Housing Technology ⭐ This past semester, Women in Engineering, Science, and Technology (WEST) at the University of Victoria partnered with Introba to provide 24 students a hands-on opportunity to explore Passive Housing Technology. The project culminated in a Showcase this month, where each student group presented their design process, data findings, and future recommendations. Through 5 lectures and over 8 build sessions, students designed and constructed physical prototypes of passive houses, incorporating cutting-edge strategies like thermal mass concrete, composting heat recovery, and maximizing sun exposure. The goal? To create structures that maintain the most stable indoor air temperature possible using passive design principles. The structures were tested at Introba’s office using temperature probes, providing real-time data for analysis and interpretation. This project would not have been possible without the leadership of Aislinn Dressler (B.Eng. Civil) and Meghan Whyte (B.Eng. Mech), who coordinated the logistics, mentored participants, and facilitated collaboration with Introba. We are incredibly proud of the students' achievements and excited to see where their passion for sustainable design will take them! 🚀 WEST is now looking forward to kicking off its Spring 2025 project with FortisBC. Exciting news! New Westminster’s City Council has endorsed the long-term vision for the neighbourhood around the 22nd Street SkyTrain Station! Over the past two years, MODUS collaborated with City staff and our amazing team to: ● Host community engagement with local groups, youth, and stakeholders ● Run an international ideas challenge, receiving 80+ bold submissions for a climate-friendly neighbourhood ● Work with local First Nations to explore opportunities  ● Develop a plan focused on climate action and BC’s housing mandates for Transit-Oriented Development Thanks to everyone who was involved in the process, and to our partners: City of New Westminster, PWL Partnership Landscape Architects Inc., Introba, Cory Douglas, Mark Busse, Deltares, Scot Hein, Mott MacDonald. This innovative campus includes a 100,000 ft² research & development lab, 130,000 ft² office tower, and 70,000 ft² welcome center with conference spaces, food service, a fitness center, and more.
