Should underwriters be concerned about AI taking their jobs? We spoke with Greg Markell from Ridge Canada Cyber Solutions Inc., who is confident that underwriters should not worry. “There’s still a need for the human touch on the underwriting side. That’s never going to go away,” says Markell. He adds, “Leveraging some of the AI capabilities that will present themselves in the future is great. Those are tools that will make our underwriters more efficient and better.” He also mentioned that the same sentiment is echoed by some of their broker partners who definitely still prefer talking to someone.
