How did a small Estonian start-up become one of the fastest-growing tech companies with over 200 million customers and 4.5 million partners in 50 countries? One word: culture. Ever since Markus, Martin and Oliver created Bolt ten years ago, our operating principles have been guiding us along the way. So, to celebrate our 10th birthday, we made a video about them. 🟢 Customer first We optimise for long-term positive impact on the world, not just personal gains next quarter. That means always starting from the customer's needs and working backwards to find solutions. 🟢 Act like an owner We care about what’s best for the company, not only one team. Whenever we see problems outside of our area of responsibility, we speak up and try to help. 🟢 Be frugal We consider the impact of every resource we spend. That’s how we solve difficult problems with less than other companies spend on office perks. But when we identify opportunities that make a difference, we invest aggressively. 🟢 Extreme pragmatism We discard most opportunities to focus on what matters. We balance common sense and data to arrive at the right decisions. We don’t fool ourselves that we’re perfect and take critical feedback seriously. 🟢 We challenge each other but mean well The best solutions are found through intense, but respectful debate. We seek out people that can prove our arguments wrong, not simply confirm our beliefs. We give honest feedback to help people grow, but make sure they know we’re on their side. 🟢 We work hard and smart We take pride in pushing ourselves to achieve extraordinary things, but we know our true limits and when to take a break. We never put in hours just for the sake of hours. What matters is impact and if we find a shortcut to success, we go for it. 🟢 Be better, not different There is no point in reinventing the wheel if it works for us. But the opposite is also true — everybody else doing something doesn’t make it right. Where it matters, we think from first principles and create solutions that nobody has thought of before. 🟢 Short-term pessimism, long-term optimism We’re focused on existing problems and upcoming challenges in our daily work. But we remain highly optimistic that the future will be far better than the present. We just realise that to get there, we can never grow arrogant or take the trust of customers for granted. 🟢 Great people over complex processes We believe that the better people we have, the fewer processes we need. We empower our teams and give them the freedom to make decisions, keeping bureaucracy to a minimum. 🟢 Have fun! People perform best when surrounded by those they enjoy spending time with. People who raise others up, not put them down. We want to be a positive influence on those around us, by pushing them to achieve extraordinary things and giving praise whenever it’s due. This limited edition candle smells just like a new car. But unlike a new car, it doesn’t come with monthly instalments, petrol costs, or insurance payments. Enjoy The Smell Of A New Car — and if you need a ride, simply order one, instead. ✅ Unique blend of leather, sandalwood, money, and responsibility ✅ Up to 50 hours of high-performance runtime ✅ No monthly instalments, petrol costs, or insurance payments ✅ No driving licence required ✅ The perfect Christmas gift for your financially responsible friend Order it through Bolt Market in Estonia or reach out to TheSmellOfANewCar@bolt.eu

Europe needs to move faster. 🇬🇧 It was a pleasure to receive birthday wishes from the Prime Minister Keir Starmer this morning. We had a great discussion about the regulatory burdens European technology companies are facing. Growing bureaucracy and lack of risk taking are causing us to keep falling behind US and China. I remain optimistic for Europe, but reforms require decisive politicians.

The 2024 Bolt Rewind has arrived — and this year, it’s hosted by Fred. That’s our graphic designer, and he only speaks in Gen Z slang. Open your Bolt app to see your personal summary and tap through to see how you compare to Fred. Some of Fred’s stats may surprise you. Or, as Fred would say, they may have you shooketh.

We’re one step closer to net zero by 2040! The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) just approved our emissions reduction targets! This isn’t just a pat on the back — it’s a promise to stay accountable and stick to the science. Think of it as the gold standard for corporate climate action. It ensures companies like us align with pathways to limit global warming to 1.5°C. 💡 Want to dive deeper? Tap the gallery or visit our blog. #Bolt

Ever wondered who’s behind the wheel? We talked to 40,000 drivers across 25 countries (and 200,000+ customers!) to dig deep into the world of ride-hailing. Turns out, drivers are young, ambitious, and juggling everything from studies to caregiving. But the impact doesn’t stop there. Shared mobility is reshaping cities. Over half of passengers without cars believe ride-hailing could replace car ownership. Less traffic, fewer cars, smarter cities. And that’s just the start. Can Bolt Engineers survive their own hiring interviews? 🤝 Yup, we flipped the script. We hit up our Warsaw office and put our engineers in the hot seat. No stone was left unturned—like how they’d handle the ultimate coding dilemma: dealing with a coworker who uses tabs instead of spaces. 😬 Watch now. Root for your favourite. And hey, think you’d crush it? Apply today: careers.bolt.eu #bolt #wearehiring #lifeatbolt
