We are pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Nicholson and Dominic Riley, to the Howden Re Aviation and Space team, led by Paul Smith. Both will be integral members of Howden Re’s growing Global Specialty Reinsurance division, which is led by Bradley Maltese and has expanded significantly since its creation just over two and a half years ago. Their appointments will further strengthen Howden Re’s position in the global specialty reinsurance market, building on the strong momentum the business has already established in aviation reinsurance. Brad Maltese, CEO, Howden Re UK, and Head of Global Specialty commented: “I’m thrilled that ‘Nico’ and Dom will be joining the team after the necessary time in the garden. The calibre of these hires shows once again that we are the home for the most entrepreneurial and innovative talent in the business. These hires also shows our commitment to the aviation and space market.” Read our full announcement here: https://lnkd.in/eTMp-5nW #HowdenRe #Reinsurance #Aviation #Space #GlobalSpecialty

We’ve once again combined the collective power of Resilient Cities Network and the Sustainable Markets Initiative to deliver the 2024 Global Risk and Resilience Fellowship report. Building on the success of the inaugural 2023 Fellowship, this transformative work was delivered across five diverse cities including Manchester, UK; Lagos, Nigeria; Norfolk and Oakland United States; and Cape Town, South Africa. With a public-private sector approach, this collaboration creates lasting solutions that strengthen urban resilience and help cities adapt to climate challenges, including: • Assessing the cost of failing to adapt to flooding and climate risks. • Using insurance to de-risk investments and reduce capital costs for adaptive infrastructure. • Evaluating how innovative parametric insurance can help cities manage increasing climate shocks. As we mark our 30th anniversary, it’s a moment to reflect on how far we've come and to look toward the future. We are now approaching £3bn in revenue and we've got a vision to reach £10bn by 2030 (our 30:30 vision). But this milestone wouldn’t have been possible without our 19,000 colleagues all working together across the globe to enable our clients and people to do more, faster. We’re proud of the sustainable business we’ve built — one that’s grounded in culture, employee ownership, and a commitment to nurturing talent. As David Howden said, "We're only in our thirties and we're really just getting started." Watch the video to hear more about how we got here and our 30:30 vision. #Howden30 #PeopleFirst #SustainableBusiness #EmployeeOwnership

Executive Chair of Howden Capital Markets & Advisory and Vice Chair of Howden Re, Rob Bredahl, joined the Financial Times’s Ian Smith for a fireside chat during the 2024 PwC Insurance Summit in Bermuda. The panel included discussion around whether #HurricaneMilton could lead to an extended hard market through large insured losses, what we should expect for capital flows in the wake of the storm, and how ‘black swan’ events could impact investor psychology.
