🌳The W3 Building: timber at the heart of a Kings Cross community 📖Read our new article on the impressive W3 building, designed by Haptic Architects for clients Related Argent. 💪👶Designed to house a creche, a gym and a cafe, W3 features exposed timber internally and a timber facade. 💚The building gains its striking appearance from its 'pre-weathered' facade. 🏗️The floor slabs are CLT, while the beams and the columns are glulam. A cassette system is used for the walls: these are OSB with mineral wood insulation inside, and fermacell® insulation on the inside face. 🦺Midgard Ltd were the main contractor, while Hybrid Structures were the timber subcontractors. 👇Click on the link below to read the article now. https://lnkd.in/eNJvTxGn

  • Haptic are so pleased to have continued our participation with Open City on their “Young City Makers” programme for another year running! With everything young people face in London and beyond, programmes like this are totally invaluable and being there last night to celebrate the children and their wonderful work at the new Tower Hamlet’s town hall by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris really epitomised why it’s so important. Over 3 workshops, we worked with children from Henry Maynard Primary School in Walthamstow drawing interpretive maps, discovering the hidden treasures of King’s Cross and Coal Drop’s Yard and finally, reimagining what local landmarks could have looked like, through the imagined eyes of local artists such as Angry Dan, William Morris and Grayson Perry! Together, we explored the creativity, curiosity, and imagination that architecture sparks at all ages. Hat’s off to the team at Open City for organising it all so brilliantly and a thank you to the children for sharing their incredible ideas with us. Open City Sarah Phillips Manijeh Verghese Thanks to our lovely Haptic Architects team Sherief Al Rifai Jack Penford Baker Emma Galvin Vittorio Asperti and the highlight of the awards celebration was to pick up the Landscape Prize!

Regenerative Highrise Our regenerative high-rise project has been shortlisted for the CTBUH Innovation Award 2024. Haptic, in collaboration with Ramboll, have developed a proposal for a new sustainable and regenerative tower typology. The typology maximises flexibility and adaptability to extend its lifespan to 150+ years. It seeks to address the challenge of waste in the construction industry and uses a series of ‘maxi-floors’ – innovative, three-storey-high structural decks. The intermediate soft decks are lightweight and interchangeable, to allow the tower to be flexible and reprogrammed over time, according to social and economic
