The National Integrated Care System Innovation Congress 2024: Reflections as Show Manager 🎬 Earlier this year I interviewed for and had the privilege of serving as Show Manager for the National ICS Innovation Congress. This role meant collaborating with ICB leaders, chief executives of NHS Trusts, and industry experts to deliver an agenda that addressed the NHS’s evolving challenges. The NHS has faced shifting narratives this year and The National ICS Innovation Congress was designed as a platform to delve into some of the most complex challenges. It facilitated honest reflection, fostered meaningful dialogue, and amplified insights from speakers within the NHS, academics and beyond. 🎤 Introducing and Producing “The GIANT Conversation” A highlight of this role was introducing and producing the GIANT Conversation—a behind-the-scenes series offering real-time insights from speakers ahead of the GIANT Health stage in London. Key parts stages: ☀️ Researching ICB agendas, NHS priorities, and wider system challenges. ☀️ Working closely with NHS leaders, innovators, and experts to explore their diverse perspectives. ☀️ Curating meaningful prompts that guided value-driven conversations for a diverse audience—spanning startups, NHS leaders, and industry innovators. 📋 Critical Themes Addressed Each theme aimed to challenge assumptions and inspire attendees to develop actionable ideas for implementation. 🔹 Short- to Long-Term Planning – Balancing immediate demands with sustainable strategies. 🔹 Co-Design in Innovation – Ensuring solutions are inclusive and shaped by patients, clinicians, and communities. 🔹 Engaging Frontline Clinicians – Empowering those closest to care delivery to lead innovation. 🔹 Cyber Resilience – Addressing the growing risks of digital transformation in healthcare. 🌟 Collaborating with Vision: Working with Liam Cahill our curator, was the highlight. His vision—to model conversations that leaders could replicate within their own ICBs—ensured this year’s agenda was both practical and impactful. I’m grateful for Liam’s leadership and professional mentorship going forward. The team is what made the experience; a special thank you to: 💚 Barry Shrier GIANT Health for providing this platform, guidance to manage priorities and trusting me with this incredible opportunity. 💚 James Ioannou for his dedication, organisational brilliance, and ability to keep everything moving seamlessly behind the scenes. 💚 Kamilya Duprat For overseeing the day itself and going above and beyound with Rani Muktar whose attention to detail was key to the days success. Balancing this role alongside my master’s degree allowed me to combine my project management skills, research, and healthcare innovation into an experience that reinforced the value of collaboration, learning, and meaningful dialogue.

Last week, I attended the GIANT Health Event Conference, and even though I could only make it for the first day, it left a lasting impression! ✨️ The event was a whirlwind of innovation, learning, and networking. I gained valuable insights into how AI is transforming healthcare, explored healthtech innovations, and had meaningful conversations with exhibitors showcasing their impressive work. One highlight for me was the Discovery Spark Growth Programme pitches. As a dentist, Linh TB Nguyen’s work with SmileScaff stood out, showcasing its exciting potential to revolutionise dentistry.🦷 What made the experience even more special was meeting and learning from other medical professionals at different points in their journeys. It was inspiring to hear their perspectives and learn from their experiences. Dr Maureen Emeagi Sandisile Ndlovu Dr. Chizoba Orji Chioma Nwakwu Stephanie Joy Ronny Odegbami I’m looking forward to learning more in 2025. #Healthtech #AIinhealthcare #Giant2024 #Digitalhealth #dentistintech #gianthealthconference

Michael Watts, Co-Founder and CEO of Blüm Health, joined us at GIANT Health Event to share how his company works with NHS providers, entrepreneurs, and organizations to turn ideas into practical, scalable solutions. What stood out was their approach to building foundational, user-focused products that solve real problems—layering in advanced tech like AI only when it’s truly needed. Some key points we discussed: 💠 How the appetite for AI in healthcare has grown in the past five years, but challenges like trust and usability remain. 💠 The importance of starting with a true minimum viable product to deliver impact quickly and sustainably. 💠 Why patient, workforce, and service needs are at the core of their product development process. It was also interesting to hear how Michael’s clinical experience shapes his vision for scaling change in healthcare, not just for individual patients, but at a system-wide level. Check out the interview to hear more about his perspective on innovation in healthcare and the lessons he’s learned along the way. Don't forget to follow and register if you'd like to hear more!

Championing Innovation at GIANT Health Event 2024 On December 10th, I stepped in as Show Manager for the Champion of Innovation Congress at GIANT Health’s most successful event to date. With over 3,000 attendees, it remains the UK’s largest healthcare innovation and med-tech gathering Working alongside Tal M., our legendary MC, and the production team, I orchestrated a packed agenda of live sessions, panels, and pitching showcases. The day included briefing speakers, managing smooth transitions, and making quick, strategic decisions to ensure seamless delivery—transforming a complex schedule into what I hope was a live inspiring experience for all. 🔑 A Key Highlight One standout panel featured Richard Meddings, Chair of NHS England, and Roy Lilley, health policy analyst, sharing their reflections: 🌟Meddings emphasised the importance of long-term foresight, stating, “Unless you know where you’re heading, you’ll never get there.” 🌟Lilley compared the NHS’s resistance to Physician Associates with hesitation around AI adoption, highlighting the cultural shifts still needed. 🌟Scaling innovation requires targeted solutions through Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) to align with local priorities and ensure lasting impact. 🌟Tools like the NHS App and Patient ID Number remain central to digital transformation and patient-centred care. 🔥 Visionaries in Action: Professor Shafi Ahmed & Ali Parsa Another highlight was a session with the visionary Professor Shafi Ahmed and Ali Parsa, founder of Babylon Health and now Qu, recognised among the Times’ Top 100 Global People to Watch. Ali’s remarkable journey demonstrated how resilience, vision, and consistent principles are essential in turning bold ideas into transformative change. 🚀 Driving Innovation Forward Facilitating pitching sessions for 10 pioneering businesses—many with global success aiming to expand into the UK—was truly inspiring. Watching these innovative solutions engage the audience reinforced the importance of collaboration in advancing healthcare. Darren Gates keynote illustrated reimagining paediatric care through thoughtful design and technology at Alder Hey Innovation 💡 Key Takeaways The Congress tackled critical themes shaping healthcare: ⭐Aligning innovation with ICB strategies to deliver system-wide impact. ⭐Addressing resistance to change, including cultural barriers to AI adoption. ⭐Harnessing digital tools and data to deliver scalable, patient-centred care. It was a privilege to help create an environment where ideas and insights came to life. Events like this remind us that collaboration, vision, and persistence are at the heart of progress. Thank you to our respected speakers and guests for their enthusiasm. A special thank you to Tal M. for your company and humour, Professor Shafi Ahmed for your kindness, and the incredible GIANT Health team for making this event unforgettable.
