The UK government is due to open the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) scheme to non-European nationals from the 8 January. Tracy Evlogidis and Amy El Sarraff ايمي الصراف co-authored this piece detailing the scheme, including how to apply and important deadlines.   The article explores the challenges involved in the process including what happens if an ETA is denied or not secured before travelling to the UK. The Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Annington Homes have reached a landmark deal to bring the Armed Forces housing estate back into public ownership. MOD will re-acquire approximately 36,000 houses from Annington for £5.9945bn, unwinding the complex contractual arrangements that have governed their relationship since 1996. This transaction marks the culmination of significant litigation concerning MOD’s enfranchisement rights. Forsters has been advising MOD on this matter since 2020 and was also selected to handle the transactional elements of the deal, making it one of the largest property transactions in UK history. Slaughter and May advised on the public law aspects of the litigation.
