What a remarkable year it has been for the Association. We have grown our membership by almost 50%, launched Investors in Healthcare, the official journal of EHIA, and delivered some excellent events across Europe and beyond. We are excited by the future - our reputation, membership and the quality and quantity of what we are able to deliver are all growing - and look forward to developing the association further. Thank you for your support this year. We would like to wish you, your teams, and your families a wonderful Christmas and some down time over the festive season. Level 20’s Annual Review showcases our activities across Europe and I’m immensely grateful to all our members, committees, supporters, sponsors and the Level 20 team who contribute to our work. Key highlights: > 6,500+ members across 13 European chapters, including expansion into CEE and Belgium over the past two years. Members have access to an online portal and in 2024 we ran or facilitated 134 networking and content/learning events and webinars. > Our mentoring programmes have benefitted 1,300+ mentees over the years. 88% of mentees are still in the industry and 80% of mentees have been promoted at least once (see note for further details). > The second edition of our report on gender diversity in European #privateequity and #venturecapital revealed nearly one in four investors are now women, with continued growth at senior (14%) and mid (26%) levels. The picture across Europe is mixed however and our report provided more context behind the numbers, including actions firms can take to support talented women. We will update this report with data from the Netherlands and the UK in 2025. > We also published research on family leave policies and practice across Europe. We have heard how this dataset and insights are supporting conversations and work at firms and look forward to publishing more market-specific data next year. > Our outreach and advocacy activities also expanded over 2024, including our continued work with GAIN UK. We are excited for the year ahead, including a new careers portal, enhancements to our programmes, updated datasets (including the US), and celebrating our 10th anniversary! European Healthcare Investor Association (E.H.I.A.) reposted this
Last month, our team of healthcare investors, Julius Hugelshofer, Stefanos S., and Vittoria Stefanello, had the privilege of attending the Jefferies Healthcare Conference, followed by the European Healthcare Investor Association (E.H.I.A.)'s Annual Gala 2024. The discussions and insights exchanged during both events reaffirmed the dynamic nature of the healthcare sector and its evolving opportunities. 🔑 Key Takeaways from the Jefferies Conference: 🌍 Resilience in Valuation Amidst a Tepid M&A Environment Despite a slower-moving M&A landscape, multiples remain strong. Investment committees are maintaining high standards, prioritizing premium assets. Across Europe, the USA, and Asia, the focus is on value creation, fostering optimism and strengthening investor sentiment. 🏥 A Late 2024 Healthcare Services Pickup? While 2024 has seen slower-than-expected activity in healthcare services, conversations suggest an anticipated pickup in the final quarter. This could set the stage for a robust and busy 2025. 🇪🇺 Awaiting Key Exits in Europe European investors, both buyers and sellers, are closely watching for the first few healthcare service exits following a 24-month pause caused by interest rate hikes and inflationary pressures. When these materialize, they could trigger a snowball effect across the sector. 💡 Creative Approaches to Exits With liquidity challenges, investors are exploring innovative exit strategies, including combinations and continuation funds. At Verlinvest, our evergreen structure positions us well to navigate and capitalize on these trends. 🐾💉 Spotlight on Vets and Aesthetics Interestingly, there’s increasing attention on segments like veterinary care and aesthetics—areas that were often overlooked in healthcare conferences just a few years ago. What trends or opportunities are you seeing in the healthcare space? Let us know in the comments! #Verlinvest #HealthcareInnovation #EHIA2024 #ValueCreation #Investing
