About us
EDF Renewables is part of one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies in the UK. With our portfolio of 42 sites across the UK, including onshore, offshore, battery and solar, we are providing some of the much needed new affordable, low carbon electricity the UK needs. EDF Renewables UK has more than 14 GW of renewables projects in planning and development. We look after the operations and maintenance of our own wind farms. Customers need new low carbon electricity to be affordable – our innovation is driving costs down, for example our Blyth Offshore Demonstrator Project which has used float and submerge technology on the foundations, 66 kV electrical connection cables and 8.3MW turbines – all firsts in offshore wind. We are also looking at the future of onshore wind using the most modern and efficient turbines to make this technology as low cost as possible. The basis of our success is our people. We have an engaged, enthusiastic and dedicated team in an organisation that encourages agile, flexible and dynamic working. The willingness of the team to pull together to meet challenges is the source of our momentum. Whether you're working in the operational environment on site, or in one of our support functions in an office, we value the contribution each person makes. Every year we run a apprenticeship and graduate schemes to provide unique opportunities for people to get a foot into the renewable energy career ladder. For all careers opportunities and enquiries, please visit our careers page - www.edf-re.uk/careers We pride ourselves on working closely with local communities throughout the projects, from the early stages right the way through to development, construction, operation and beyond. 2024 has been a busy year! With political changes in Scotland, Wales and Westminster, it’s been a year of meeting old and new faces in government, and taking the lead on industry initiatives to accelerate the UK’s efforts to meet climate targets. ➡️ We’ve been at industry conferences up and down the country, working with our colleagues and peers to drive forward the renewables agenda and tackle the barriers to progress. ➡️ We’ve worked closely with the communities surrounding our renewables sites too – to make sure they benefit from the transition to clean energy. Whether that’s through funding into local projects and initiatives, or by enabling local suppliers to become part of the renewables supply chain. ➡️ And then of course there’s our people, who make everything we do possible. We continue to recognise their brilliance, and recruit the brightest talent to join us in accelerating our journey to clean energy. Thanks to everyone who’s been on the journey with us in 2024 – here’s our #2024Wrapped ⬇️ #AcceleratingCleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy #2024Retrospective #LookBack

Here's one of our Dorenell Wildlife Rangers, Rebecca Underdown, braving the local river to help the Cabrach Trust and Deveron, Bogie & Isla Charitible Trust with a riverbank restoration project. The team are slowly restoring the riverbanks on the River Deveron using the traditional technique of willow weaving. The work involves putting in posts along the bank, and weaving willow through the posts. This helps to prevent further erosion, strengthens the bank and creates riparian habitats for birds, fish and mammals as the willow embeds into the banks, . It's fairly painstaking work, given the time of year and high water at times, but thanks to the Dorenell Rangers and all the other volunteers, the work will protect the banks for many years to come. #Sustainability #Community #Biodiversity #Wildlife #RenewableEnergy

Today's the last day of term for most schools and colleges, so we wrap up our schools outreach work for the year. We've attended careers fairs, presented in assemblies, run STEM activities and talked to hundreds of students up and down the country. It's always good fun to get out and meet young people – and incredibly rewarding work too, if we manage to help even one young person take their first step towards a career in renewable energy. Thanks to all the teachers, careers advisers, educators and careers fair organisers for inviting us along, and supporting young people in developing #greenskills for the future. Here’s a snapshot of some of our activities by our Growth Network and Women’s Network in recent weeks at locations such as: Wapping High School in East London, Bishop Challoner Catholic School and, Castlebrae Community High School and Dalkeith High School in Edinburgh. Also pictured is Osian Roberts and Victoria Gee, who ran a workshop in November in Wales with Year 9s on how to site a wind farm. Exciting news in from our Ireland team... We've submitted the planning application for our Kellystown wind farm in Co. Louth. If it gets the green light, Kellystown could power c.22,000 homes with low-carbon, clean electricity. Well done to the team for their hard work in getting us to this point. We enjoyed a whistlestop trip to Stornoway earlier this week before the festive season gets underway. Our Principal Business Development Manager Logan Black and Senior External Affairs Manager Ruth Shewan l Chart.PR MCIPR CIPR Accredited l MSc met with a variety of people on the island including Torcuil Crichton MP (pictured with Ruth and Logan), Alasdair Allan MSP and trustees from the Stornoway Trust. We also squeezed in a trip to Stornoway Primary School to speak to the children about the Stornoway wind farm and an explanation of how wind power works! Thanks to everyone who took the time to meet with us and discuss the latest updates on the Lewis Wind Power project. ESB #AcceleratingCleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy #Stornoway #OnshoreWind
