Welcome to Construction York! We are working with City of York Council to create employment and training opportunities within the construction industry. Our city is about to embark on several key housing and commercial developments. Including the retrofitting work that’s needed to hit our carbon reduction targets. That means there will be an increasing number of opportunities for skilled construction workers in the York area. By creating a network of businesses, contractors, training providers, charities, and community groups, we aim to help individuals find training and long-term employment. We're also here to support employers (and the wider industry) by generating new entry level positions and supporting current employees with their career progression. Our goals include: ✅ Extending the eligibility of existing training provision (e.g. ensuring those that fall outside the traditional 16-19 or 25+ bracket can still access training) ✅ Ensuring training meets employers’ skills requirements and supporting individuals and cohorts into guaranteed jobs in local industry ✅ Increasing the capacity of current training provision in York ✅ Bringing additional training to York that is already being delivered elsewhere in the region, so local residents can benefit. Whether you're an individual, business, training provider, charity or another organisation supporting York residents into work, we'd love to hear from you. And make sure you’re following our LinkedIn page for updates! 😁 #ConstructionYork #SkillsDevelopment #Careers #BuildingTheFuture #York #Construction

This is what it's all about! 👏 ❤️ We're so happy to have been able to support Steve on his retrofit journey – and fantastic that W T Hall are now able to offer a two week work placement to help more people learn and develop. Could your company do the same? Get in touch! Great job Steve Hall 😃
A super busy period at W T Hall builders and some very exciting news. After helping Zero Carbon Harrogate with there homeowners event, and currently going through a big phase on our current #eco extension in #Harrogate. In-between this I owe a big thanks to Adam Harper helping us and putting me in touch with Construction York for more training on my #passivehaus and #retrofit journey as I already have my Passive House Institute tradeperson certificate my next step has been the Passivhaus retrofit delivery course which I completed. It was extremely informative and great to speak to Other people and their issues and problems from design to getting over the issues on site as well learning even more in Passivhaus and retrofit. Construction York are also helping some of subcontractor with the Passivhaus bitsize course, so we can be happy more people are on site, all on the same page working towards the goal of delivering the best project possible. I'm also doing a 15 week part time course on Cad in construction to help me progress working along side architect & desingers in projects to help develop the best performance build possible and also mindful of what is going to be the most cost efficient method for clients budgets in delivering that performance. My Grandad always said you never stop learning in this game. and I truly believe his words and will continue to keep learning and improving. And with this in mind and wanting to share my knowledge and help others. we are happy to announce we are offering a 2 week work placement for anyone wanting to come along and work alongside me and see how a small team dedicates themselves to delivering a high standard of retrofit and general works. link is here: https://lnkd.in/eT8gfc6Y

Do CITB hubs work? What do we think? Creating apprenticeships is one thing, but the supporting framework needs to be there: – More people encouraged into the industry at one end. – Employers encouraged to take on apprentices at the other. Unfortunately it’s often smaller, non-CITB levy paying companies that desperately need apprentices – but can’t access the funding. How can we fix this? Is there anything bigger contractors can do to support? #ConstructionYork #ConstructionSkills #CITB #Apprenticeships #ConstructionTraining #ConstructionJobs #SME #Subcontractor https://lnkd.in/emCActQF
