Caring for Climate and Community

About us

Computers 4 Charity is the ‘Working Name’ of Digital Pipeline, and a registered charity. We were founded by Microsoft and personally supported by Bill Gates . Today, we have evolved into a leading technology charity, providing hundreds of thousands of PC's, laptops and tablets across the UK and developing countries. Our team has been refurbishing computers since 1996, for 25 years and our vision is to provide the best IT Asset Disposal (ITAD) solution possible with full Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) fulfilment. Our holistic approach to computer refurbishment is designed around providing a green IT sustainability service to benefit climate and our ethical donation cycle to benefit community. As a computer recycling charity we provide end to end PC, computer and laptop refurbishment and reuse from donor to beneficiary and give a whole new dimension to corporate and individual environmental and social responsibility. We securely and safely refurbish your unwanted or surplus laptops, computers or old IT equipment and donate it to charity causes across the UK. We dismantle, refurbish, rebuild and upgrade PCs doubling their working lives from 5 years to 10, and laptops from 3 to 6 years. Our beneficiaries include: children and young carers, hospices, unemployed veterans, charity volunteers and UK charities who support schools in Africa, to whom we donate laptops to at our events.

  • ♻️ Reducing C02e Emissions With Innovative Technology Reuse ♻️ We extend our sincere gratitude to our community of corporate IT donors and partners. By donating surplus IT equipment to fuel the circular economy, you have contributed significantly to reducing C02e emissions and promoting sustainable operations. Together, we have eliminated 1270 tonnes of CO2e emissions from June 2020 - November 2024. Every device that is reused avoids emissions tied to new equipment manufacturing, minimises electronic waste, and supports wider social impact and sustainability objectives. Your leadership in IT resource optimisation is delivering measurable environmental outcomes, aligning IT management with corporate sustainability and ESG goals. “Thank you to all our organisational tech donors for choosing to adopt a circular economy mindset where devices are refurbished, reused, repurposed, and given a second life. You are a united force supporting tech for good in the UK by contributing to reducing C02e emissions to mitigate environmental impact and minimise electronic waste. “ George Cook – Honorary Chief Executive Gratitude to our repeat donors SUEZ UK Food Standards Agency Colliers SEGA Europe Kent Fire and Rescue Service Paxton Access Ltd Claranet Institute of Development Studies Eteach Amber Infrastructure Limited who have significantly contributed to this progress 🙏 Read our latest published data here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eV4yiv8T #esg #csr #itsustainabiity #techforgood #circulareconomy #c02emissionsreduction #netzero

  • As the year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to share a heartfelt thank you for being part of our journey. Sincere gratitude to each and every one of you for your incredible support. Whether you have made a financial contribution, donated your surplus or redundant tech, purchased a refurbished device from our eShop, got involved with our IT Appeals, supported us as a partner or engaged with our social media content. We thank you 🙏 This year, we have proudly partnered with over 175 amazing charities, providing them with free refurbished technology that empowers them to do what they do best – change lives. Together, we are caring for climate and community, helping the circular economy and bridging the digital divide. • It's been a month since we took part in our very first #GetOnlineWeek - an annual Digital Inclusion campaign organised by Good Things Foundation to help tens of thousands of people boost their digital skills & confidence in just one week! As a local charity based in #Maidstone – we were thrilled to be involved by supporting this initiative with the donation of the devices for the community hub. Our friends over at We Click CIC were responsible for orchestrating this locally and thanks to the support and resources they provided across 12 events and 3 live webinars, we were able to make a significant impact in the Maidstone community. An army of 200 digital champions gave their time to help others get online, supporting them overcome barriers to learning, mental health challenges, and financial hardship. Here’s a roundup of the headline achievements kindly shared from Melinda Adams – Founder and CEO of We Click CIC: •      Welcomed 154 visitors at the community hub •      Helped 30 people get online for the first time •      Received 15 applications for a Hardware Access Scheme •      Assisted with 14 Pension Credit enquiries •      Distributed 8 Carbon Monoxide readers to keep households safer •      Referred community members to 20+ essential services •      Gained 3 new Digital Champions to keep the mission moving forward With 1 in 5 adults in the UK reported to be lacking essential digital skills - being a small part of Get Online Week to support people in our local community was both humbling and inspiring. Experiencing firsthand the impact of initiatives like Get Online Week reaffirmed our commitment to bridging the digital divide and our passion to empower individuals to thrive in an increasingly digital world. #digitalinclusion #bridgingthedigitaldivide #digitalaccessforall

  • On Remembrance Day, we pause to honour the sacrifices of veterans whose bravery and resilience have shaped our world. Every name, every memory, represents a unique story—one of courage, selflessness, and often, profound loss. Today, we remember them all. At Computers 4 Charity, our commitment to supporting veterans goes beyond today. We believe in standing by those who have stood for us, not just in memory but through action. That’s why we proudly partner with #VeteranCharities across the UK to ensure veterans receive the care and support they deserve. • In the heart of Leeds and West Yorkshire, there's a dedicated charity working tirelessly to build a brighter future for vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals. Recently, we had the pleasure of connecting with happy Tears Foundation, a non-profit group of compassionate and hard-working humanitarians. with a powerful mission: to fight poverty, champion equality, and celebrate diversity. Through their work they create stronger, more connected communities by offering educational opportunities, promoting health, and enhancing welfare through hands-on, local initiatives. Now, with these refurbished and upgraded computers in hand, their staff and volunteers can better access online resources, manage essential data, and simplify their everyday tasks. This donation is helping them reach even more people in need, making their operations smoother and their impact stronger. #BridgingTheDigitalDivide #leeds #TechForEducation #techforlearning #techforconnection #TechforImpact
