November marks the 6th Birthday of Companies in Balance. How time flies! We've had the pleasure to work with ambitious, inspiring clients across Tech, Healthcare, Cleantech, Creative, Media and the Third Sector, who are scaling rapidly, or going through business transformation or modernisation. In the process, we've learnt so much more about what creates healthy companies where people practices are balanced with business goals and target culture. Companies in Balance was born from the realisation that generic, conventional HR and management practices don't get the best productivity from most people and businesses. Instead, initiatives need to consider the organisation individually and holistically. Much like with human health, everything is connected. Bouncing into our 7th year, we're continuing to partner with progressive companies who want to do things differently. By combining deep business understanding with tailored, modern people practices we create solutions that harmonise with you culture and integrate with your business in a way that drives lasting positive change. Now it's cake time! 🎂 Photo by Ankush Minda at Unsplash.

At Companies in Balance we are wary of jumping on every new fad & trend. But Artificial Intelligence is a breakthrough that's undisputedly here to stay and grow in importance. So we're excited to be early adopters on this one! While rapidly evolving, there are already lots of ways that generative AI can support HR teams to do more of what we enjoy and less of what we don't. Here are three top steps that HR teams, and all teams, can do to get ready to reap the benefits of AI. Whether your company has started embedding the technology or not (it will): 1️⃣ Get conversant & play with different AI tools. Encourage your team members to do this if they haven't already. 2️⃣ Put in place a policy and basic training for AI use NOW, working with your IT team. Research shows people are already using AI for work whether it is officially rolled out/ sanctioned or not. So better that you set the guidelines and help people use it safely and ethically, protecting your business & personal data and IP. 3️⃣ Tidy up your data and information and set up knowledge owners whose job it is to keep them so. You can start, even if you do this by-and-by! Many companies are still transitioning to effective data management in the first place. It will only become more crucial, and non-clean data will prevent you from getting the gains from AI. The data that's in your systems & spreadsheets needs to be accurate, up-to-date and GDPR compliant. And not only that but thinking of all the information you store more broadly. In HR's case: policies, playbooks, management guides, onboarding docs, training plans etc. When these are organised, and I mean down to the level of clear naming and version control (and getting rid of outdated docs!), you will thank yourself when it comes to getting the power of AI to support you! #AIforHR #AIadoption #howtostartwithAI #AIpioneers #AIanddatamanagement Photo by Almos Bechtold on Unsplash
