UK soft drinks manufacturer bottling Northumbria spring water at source.

About us

Based in the North East, Clearly Drinks is a soft drinks manufacturer offering a range of our own brands alongside an industry leading contract bottling service. We draw crystal clear spring water directly on site which acts as a basis for fresh and fruity flavour combinations and carbonations. Originating in 1885, we have been bottling in the North East for over 130 years. Well known for many years as ‘Villa Drinks’ and a truly local North East business since its inception, Clearly Drinks has become one of the UK’s leading specialist bottlers with well-loved brands including Perfectly Clear, Northumbria Spring, Revolution Waves and Upstream. At the heart of everything is our spring water drawn directly from our onsite boreholes into our own natural spring.

  • ⭐ EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: SHERI BURROWS ⭐ We're thrilled to spotlight Sheridan Burrows, who has been a vital part of our journey for the past five years. Sheri began her career here in the Quality department after transitioning from the food manufacturing industry and later, the insurance sector. From the moment she interviewed, Sherri knew this was the perfect fit – and what a journey it’s been since! Sheri’s path has been remarkable, progressing through roles like Quality Technician, Production Shift Manager, Unit Manager, Assistant Production Manager, and now, Continuous Improvement Manager. Her diverse experience in quality and production has equipped her to make meaningful improvements across all departments. "I love that every day is different," Sheri says. "There’s always something to improve because we don’t want to stand still. Whether it’s solving problems or preventing them from recurring, my role is about finding the root cause and ensuring smoother processes moving forward." Over the years, Sheri has sharpened her skills through certifications like the ILM Level 3 Supervisory and Team Management course, HACCP, and Internal Audit training. Her commitment to continuous improvement shines as she contributes to every aspect of our operations. What makes it all worthwhile? "The people and the variety. You’re never bored. Everyone here gets along so well, and with our open-door policy, you know you’ve got full support from the team." Sheri embodies our Stronger Together value every single day, ensuring we continue to grow as a team. • It was an absolute pleasure to be able to help St Benedict's Hospice with donations as part of their #WinterWoollyAppeal! 💙

  • Last week, a group of our dedicated colleagues from the factory spent the day volunteering at Sunderland Foodbank, a charity we’re proud to have supported for some time. During their visit, they delivered an incredible donation of products, equating to 191 meals and weighing over 150kg – a meaningful contribution to those in need. Ian from the Foodbank shared his appreciation for our team: “They were brilliant! We were very impressed with the group – they worked incredibly hard and truly enjoyed their time.” A big thank you to everyone involved for exemplifying the power of community and kindness. Together, we can make a real difference.

  • 📣We’re excited to feature Chris Johnson as October's Employee Spotlight!📣 Chris joined us just six months ago as a Planning Manager and has already been promoted to Supply Chain Manager! With over 15 years’ experience in planning, he was drawn to the hands-on, varied nature of this role, saying, “Once I spoke to people here, I was sold immediately.” Every day brings new challenges for Chris and his team—whether handling production issues, material shortages, or customer feedback. He describes Supply Chain as the “centre of the universe,” a key connector across departments that keeps everything moving smoothly. Chris is quick to credit his team’s flexibility and dedication, always ready to tackle tasks of any size. Leading and rebuilding his team has been a significant accomplishment for Chris. He’s welcomed a new planner, joined the company’s Senior Leadership Team, and embraced the fast-paced learning curve with enthusiasm, especially following our recent acquisition. “It’s a great environment to learn, and I am currently doing so at a fast pace,” he shares. In his role, Chris plays a pivotal part in new product development and meeting customer needs, highlighting the importance of how things are done: “We are one family, one community, and we want to win together.” Chris’ favourite part of working here? The people! “In a fast-paced FMCG environment, it’s the incredible team and support that make this a fantastic place to work.” Thank you, Chris, for your leadership and for being an essential part of our team! #EmployeeSpotlight #SupplyChain #ClearlyDrinks #StrongerTogether

  • A great night for an even greater cause!

Grace House have made the Sunderland Echo today with a story about our Beat the Chaser event! In case you haven't already heard...Clearly Drinks Ltd beat the chaser! Amazing stuff. Not only that, they then donated their winnings back to Grace House 🧡. How generous is that?! The event was a brilliant one, or should that be a brilliantly competitive one? 🤔 All in good spirits of course. Well done to everyone who took part, and huge thanks to everyone who supported the night. Additional thanks go to Eco Logic Partners who kindly sponsored the event, and atom. who sponsored the prize money. We couldn't do it without your support. All money raised helps us to provide youth groups, work experience sessions, parent and sibling support groups (and more) for the disabled children, young people and their families that we work with. #CSR #Charity #CommunitySupport North East Chamber of Commerce Natalie Connolly

  • At Clearly Drinks, our commitment to a sustainable future is stronger than ever. 🌍 This #RecyclingWeek, we’re showcasing our packaging design philosophy, which focuses on using materials that can be efficiently separated and recycled at the end of their lifecycle. By reducing waste and shrinking our environmental footprint, we’re playing our part in promoting a circular economy and minimising plastic waste. Here’s how we’re making a difference: - All our bottles and cans are made with 100% recyclable materials, with all bottles being made from 30% RPET. - We prioritise recyclable materials and minimise plastic usage whenever feasible. - We have set goals in line with the latest legislation to adopt tethered caps and begin the process of increasing our recycled PET content to 50% by 2025. - We’re fully dedicated to on-site recycling. We’re all in for a greener future! ♻ 🌳
