Transport & Sustainability Consultant || City Science || Cardiff University

I had the pleasure to spend insightful 2 days at the Local Transport Summit 2024 this year. I must say this is my favourite conference among all as it always offers a great opportunity to hear from Transport Professionals from all backgrounds. Lots to take away, it was great to hear from the Minister that bus is being given the priority it needs. However, for me personally it was the wider recognition that other sectors such as Public Health and Planning Dept need to work more closely with Transport professionals and create that "Delivery Partnership" to ensure our places are sustainable, livable and healthy. It was also great to see we are trying to move towards the vision led whole system approach and talking about putting "People First" in our policy discussions, but we surely have a long way to go. This also reinforces my belief with the ethos we follow at City Science to put people's needs first and come up with data backed robust evidence bases to highlight the impacts sustainable transport solutions can bring to the table.

Local Authorities: it's time to tackle Scope 3 Emissions Local authorities are increasingly recognising the importance of measuring and reducing their carbon footprints. While many have focused on direct emissions (Scopes 1 and 2), the significant impact of indirect emissions (Scope 3) is often overlooked. Scope 3 emissions, particularly those arising from supply chains, can account for up to 80% of a local authority's total footprint. By understanding and addressing these emissions, local authorities can accelerate their journey towards net-zero. If you're ready to tackle your Scope 3 Emissions, read more in the blog linked below or get in touch! https://lnkd.in/epwYMYKN Zachary Gaeddert #Decarbonisation #Emissions #LocalAuthorities
