CIO @ Chepstow Lane | Helping institutional investors access and diversify into idiosyncratic European credit opportunities
Strange things are afoot... For much of the last 15 years, investors got attached to a narrative of core Europe is good and the periphery is bad. Some even got attached to a narrative that Europe is un-investible... Turns out that some peripheral European economies geared towards tourism and with cleaned up bank balance sheets are growing faster than core Europe and - stay with me - even the US. The FT today is reporting that the IMF is predicting that Spain is set to surpass the US to become the world's fastest growing major advanced economy. https://lnkd.in/essJBYpx Spain and Greece are growing faster - a LOT faster - than Germany, Holland and France. Ireland is debating how to spend a huge surplus. Poland's GDP growth is 3%+. Looking under the hood and challenging biases still pays in Europe. #europeancredit #highyield
