Thank you to the wonderful team at 45 Park Lane - part of the Dorchester Collection - for their incredible support this year! From hosting a fantastic auction for Centrepoint to inviting us to be a part of their magical Christmas Tree switch-on - where Sally Orlopp spoke to guests about our work, and our Independent Living Ambassador, Lady Kitty Spencer, lit up the tree - your efforts have been amazing! To end youth homelessness, we need to prevent young people from becoming homeless in the first place. That’s why we’re working with partners in schools to identify 11-16-year-olds who might be at hidden risk of homelessness. We’re so delighted to have received funding towards this important work from the George Michael Fund, made possible by some of George’s record royalties from sales of Last Christmas! These funds will help to grow our important pre-16 prevention work, through the creation of a role that will help pupils access dedicated support that meets the needs of both the individual and the school. A huge thank you to Sam Farmer and Nightingales Wealth Management for their generous support of our Independent Living Programme through an incredible gala at the Savoy! We were thrilled to be the charity partner for the event and to be able to share more about our mission to end youth homelessness. Our thanks to the Celebration Gala team and everyone who made the night spectacular – and for raising a wonderful £17,000! London City Philharmonic

Many young people supported by Centrepoint left their previous home after a relationship breakdown. But a broken home is not the end. With the right support and nurture, young people can grow and realise their potential. We loved working with Royal Horticultural Society and Project Giving Back at the #ChelseaFlowerShow in 2022 to grow awareness of the challenges faced by homeless young people when their world becomes uprooted and fragmented, and help more young people to build a future. And we’re so proud that elements from the garden have been relocated to one of our West London services, creating a communal green space that gives them a chance to connect with nature.

We recently came together with employers, other charities, and local authorities to launch our Employer Best Practice Guide, which outlines key changes that employers can make to improve recruitment and employment practices and support homeless young people to access work. We know that employers play a pivotal role in ensuring that young people can access and thrive in employment – and we work with and are supported by a host of employers every year, many of whom provide vital work opportunities to the young people we support. We now need more employers to recruit young people who have experienced homelessness and support them to move up the career ladder. That's why we have created this guide to help employers and charities to work together to support homeless young people to access and make the most of work. Thank you to everyone who attended and to speakers Frankiebo Taylor and Will Andrews from Only A Pavement Away - and a massive thank you to steering group members Toni-Ann Gurdon and Benjamin Treloar for their work to create the guide and for sharing their perspectives during the launch. It was really encouraging to meet with 50 MPs yesterday at the Plan for the 136k Collective’s parliamentary drop-in! Together, we’re calling for a #YouthHomelessChapter in the government’s new cross-departmental strategy to end homelessness – and to make this happen, we need MPs to commit to effective, cross-cutting interventions for the most vulnerable young people. Our four main priorities for the government to focus on are: 🟠 Funding and guidance for local councils 🟠 Increased affordable housing 🟠 Financial support – including ending age-related discrimination with pay and benefits 🟠 Preventing homelessness through school and community support and early identification programmes Lee Pitcher MP Kirith Entwistle Florence Eshalomi Rachel Blake Danny Beales Emily Darlington MP New Horizon Youth Centre YMCA England & Wales
