Protecting forests for communities, wildlife and climate
About us
Carbon Tanzania is a social enterprise that creates economic value in natural resources for indigenous people through sustainable management of forests and biodiversity. We generate forest-based carbon credits that enable Tanzania’s indigenous resource-owners to earn revenues from the protection of their natural resources. These verified emissions reductions allow businesses to invest in a nature-based solution that serves the climate, indigenous communities, wildlife, and contributes to delivering the SDGs. Our work with our forest community partners protects 6888km2 of forest avoiding 857,284 tonnes of CO2 annually while supporting rural livelihoods.

As we close off 2024, let me reflect on one of the best moments I had this year sharing experience and knowledge to young and upcoming conservation practitioners. Having an opportunity to be asked tough questions by these young minds during the Youth 4 Nature Conference 2024, was just a milestone during my 2024 year journey and this made me just rethink - "we need to ask the right questions if we have to get the right answers for a better tomorrow" Carbon TanzaniaHoneyguide FoundationYouth4Nature Conference

Why was our Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in the Ruvuma landscape earlier this month❓ He spent time with the village game scouts (VGS) from all five participating WMAs to provide training on the Cluey app with the aim to improve data collection systems. The Cluey app is deployed to aid the VGS with collecting information on biodiversity, land incursions and deforestation. This data supports the enforcement of the village land use plans and enhances project operations. 👣 Follow us to learn more about how our forest protection carbon projects operate. #naturetech #communityled #naturebasedsolutions

🎙️ "When children observe our activities, they grasp the spirit of our community more easily." explains Pili, a Hadza mother and community coordinator. By now you will probably know that we work in partnership with the Hadza hunter-gatherers to protect their ancestral forests using carbon finance. But how much do you know about the Hadza culture and traditions and how by protecting their forest they are able to educate their children and maintain their traditions❓ Watch this video to gain a deeper understanding of how. #hadza #naturebasedsolutions #indigenouspeople
