About us
After Dr Shara Cohen was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 she found there was very little time to just relax, take it all in and give herself ‘me’ time. With all the appointments, liaising with work, telling the people who needed to be told…… there was little time to digest what was happening, research the practicalities or to just relax. There were also a few friends who found the whole situation very awkward, they avoided her as they didnt know how to react or what to say. So she set up The Cancer Care Parcel, to enable children and adults with cancer to take some of the worry away and bring some calm back into their lives. Cancer Care Parcel is also an ideal gift, to let people with cancer know that you are thinking of them. "I set up Cancer Care Parcel to bring back a bit of calm into the lives of people suffering with cancer and its treatment” Shara has gone through treatment and understands some needs of people with cancer, however we don’t rely on Shara to decide what goes in the parcels. We also consult those receiving our parcels for their feedback and suggestions, we also consult *our advisory board, which consists of cancer patients and survivors. *our partners who donate items to ensure that their products are suitable. The final composition of each box is the decision of the Cancer Care Parcel team, chaired by Shara.

2024 has been a transformative year for Cancer Care Parcel. Despite the loss of our original Facebook page, we’ve rebuilt our social media presence and grown our community across platforms. Our new thriving Facebook groups, Navigate Life When Touched by Cancer and Tips for Getting Through Chemo, have become vital hubs for support and advice. We also launched a free membership portal, offering exclusive discounts and freebies to those affected by cancer, and began hosting monthly free live webinars, connecting participants with trusted experts in real time. These webinars, recorded and available on-demand, provide reliable information and a safe space for addressing cancer-related concerns. Our revamped website, launching in early 2025, will make accessing resources, products, and support even easier. From free care packages to thoughtfully curated products like drinkware, apparel, and bags, every purchase helps us continue to fulfill our mission of supporting the cancer community. Thank you to our dedicated team, including Kayleigh Glaister or growing our online presence, Janice Birk for liaising with people in need of care packages, Ashish Tadigiri for maintaining our website, and our logistics partner, Tarlu for ensuring smooth delivery of products.
