About us

Born from innovation, Burberry is a global luxury brand with a rich British heritage.  Founded in 1856, our brand is underpinned by our founder’s passion for the outdoors. Thomas Burberry invented the innovative rain-ready fabric gabardine to protect explorers from the elements. In doing so, he created the foundation for the iconic Burberry trench coat, which remains core to the business even today.  Guided by our history of exploration and our shared belief that ‘creativity opens spaces’, our purpose is to unlock the power of imagination to push boundaries and open new possibilities for our people, our customers and our communities. As a values-driven brand, we are committed to creating the next generation of sustainable luxury and believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are essential to fulfilling our purpose. Fostering an inclusive culture where differences are valued and embraced enables us to be more creative, engaged and make a more meaningful contribution to the world around us. This festive season, we’re keeping warm with our array of soft accessories.  This includes our B Shield scarf, created with biotech start up Spiber Inc. The scarf is made from a material blend including 30% Brewed Protein ™ fibre - a lab-grown fibre created by fermenting plant-based ingredients. Through this process, the scarf retains the attributes that our products are known for: luxury quality, warmth, protection and durability.      Discover more about our soft accessories here: https://lnkd.in/efYbR66N

Last week, our colleagues came together at our London headquarters to support two of our Burberry Inspire programme partners this festive season.    Wearing festive jumpers in aid of Save the Children UK’s annual Christmas Jumper Day, our colleagues also orchestrated a ‘Wrapped by Burberry’ gift drive to support national youth charity, OnSide. Using an array of items donated by our corporate teams, all gifts were wrapped by hand into festive packaging and distributed to youth zones across the city to ensure that all their young people have something special to open this Christmas.     Burberry Inspire is a global programme dedicated to providing safe spaces for young people to explore their creativity, develop new skills and foster positive change in their lives and in their communities.     Discover more about Burberry Inspire here: https://lnkd.in/dnKJ4gaM

We are proud to partner with the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London and their Centre for Sustainable Fashion on ‘Reimagining Materials’, a new student competition that reinforces circularity through design.     The competition encourages LCF students to develop creative ways to reimagine our surplus materials into new products.     The winning student will receive a design internship at Burberry, along with a cash prize. Their design, and the works of several other finalists, will be displayed at the London College of Fashion in April.    Discover more about our dedication to circularity here: https://lnkd.in/eTy_-Tf3

Introducing our outerwear pop-up at Chongli ski resort in China, now open until 31 March.    Inspired by the joy of British parks and the outdoors, the pop-up references traditional features found in a London pavilion, including a weathervane in the shape of our iconic Equestrian Knight Design, which sits beside an illuminated brand logo on the resort’s exterior.     The pop-up also displays a selection of pieces from our collections, including soft accessories, Burberry Check pieces and key styles from Outerwear 2024.    Discover more about our global British park-inspired pop-up stores here: https://lnkd.in/e4Q6qv8B

This season, we are continuing our festive celebrations, with the opening of ‘The Knight Rink’ in Beijing, China.    The ice-skating rink is illuminated in Knight Blue, a house colour introduced by Chief Creative Officer, Daniel Lee. In the centre of the rink is a branded Equestrian Knight Design, a brand logo which was crowd sourced in a public competition circa. 1901.     Visitors can also expect to find a café food truck nearby, serving hot beverages and a selection of treats, including hot cross buns, malt loaf cake and cinnamon rolls.     The ice rink is located in Wangfujing Business District and is open until 12 January.

Our founder, Thomas Burberry, was passionate about partnering with local craftspeople and manufacturers. In 1900, he began working with Johnstons of Elgin, a family-run business founded in 1797 in Elgin, Scotland. From raw fibre to final product, Johnstons remains the only mill in Scotland to oversee every step of the process under one roof. Each stage is completed by dedicated craftspeople using expertise passed down through generations, and many processes are still completed by hand.     One of these steps includes dyeing, a process which includes colouring and preparing the yarns to be spun and woven into samples. Carrie, who has been a dyer at Johnstons for nearly twenty years, and whose father also worked in the mill, talks through the process in the video below.     Discover more about our iconic scarves and working with Johnstons of Elgin here: https://lnkd.in/e2Hus3VB

Burberry has been dressing younger generations for more than 150 years. In 1911 we built on our legacy of innovation by creating childrenswear made from surplus fabrics - a resourceful way to utilise leftover materials. Inspired by our heritage, our new childrenswear Remake capsule is crafted from surplus fabrics and yarns from previous collections. Styles feature patchwork jackets and kilts, colour-block jersey hoodies, sweatshirts and mouliné knitwear. The capsule also features playful reinterpretations of Burberry motifs including the duck inspired by an archival embroidered design used across Burberry childrenswear in 1992. The Thomas Bear teddy receives a makeover in a new patchwork iteration, adorning a range of cosy jumpers and cardigans.     Discover more about our childrenswear Remake capsule here: https://lnkd.in/e8mqZZfN
