The British Red Cross has appointed two new trustees to join its Board.  I look forward to working with Carl and Mark. I am delighted to announce that Carl Cowling and Mark Beddy are joining the Board of the British Red Cross. Our two new trustees bring a wealth of expertise across business and public benefit organisations and their leadership and people skills and financial stewardship will be incredibly valuable in the coming years. They are joining us at an exciting time as we help guide the execution of an ambitious strategy in 2025 focussed on helping those in crisis here in the UK and across the world.   We sadly say goodbye to Deborah El Sayed and Liz Hazell as they stand down from the Board after eight years. As 2024 comes to a close, we pay respect to 32 Red Cross and Red Crescent colleagues who lost their lives this year while carrying out their duties. Their unwavering commitment has left a lasting impact on our Movement and the lives they touched. Today and every day, we honour and remember them. Corinne Rowe and Nathan Chambers are exceptional ambassadors for the British Red Cross and a fantastic example of the brilliant staff and volunteers that support our vital work.   For decades Corinne and Nathan have been huge figures in the organisation, giving up their time to support vulnerable people when they need it most.   I am delighted to see them recognised in the New Years Honours, and I would like to pass on my congratulations on this richly-deserved honour and thank Corinne and Nathan for their continued passion British Red Cross

Nathan Chambers, a British Red Cross volunteer from Enniskillen, has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the New Year Honours List 2025 for his 25+ years supporting his local community in Northern Ireland. We are delighted to see Nathan’s dedication and hard work recognised.

Corinne Rowe, a British Red Cross volunteer for over 50 years, has been honoured in the King’s New Year Honours. Her medal celebrates decades of service, including her recent roles in the emergency response team and mobility aids service. We are incredibly proud of her remarkable contribution and delighted to see her honoured in this way.
