🔊 One month to go until the second edition of our joint course with Cosmetics Cluster UK (CCUK), which will take place on 9th October at Cranage Hall Hotel in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire. We're delighted to share that the tutors for the event are John Hibbs and Amanda Isom, it promises to be an insightful and engaging day! ✍ Places are limited so be sure to register soon to save disappointment (link below). Developing and Marketing Cosmetic Ingredients 🗓 9th October 2024 📍 Cranage Hall, Holmes Chapel A diverse range of businesses, from small, research-led startups to large multinationals, are becoming interested in launching cosmetic ingredients. Maybe you have discovered something completely new or maybe you already market a material to other industries and you are now looking to expand your options?. Consumers are also becoming more interested in the origins, credentials and scientific evidence supporting the range of ingredients used in beauty products, therefore developing ingredients from the outset which meet this demand is increasingly part of the product development process. The course offers a full day of guidance on the regulatory, technical and ethical issues which should be considered before the introduction of a cosmetic ingredient onto the market. It distills practical and useful information with case studies and examples and has been updated following its introduction last year. An Introduction to Regulatory Affairs for the Speciality Chemicals Sector 🗓 5th September 2024 📍 Cranage Hall, Holmes Chapel Regulation is a key factor in product design and development in the Speciality Chemicals Sector. The course will provide a basic understanding of the relevant regulatory issues. It will cover topics of current or future relevance to those working in the Speciality Chemicals sector including GB/EU REACH, Biocides, Detergents, Cosmetics GHS/CLP, and Ecolabelling. It will provide information on the background to the legislation, the current position and any proposed developments and how all this can influence product development and design. This one-day course is designed to provide a basic overview for those either not routinely involved in regulatory affairs or new to the Sector. The course tutor is Mark Selby. Mark has worked in the area of regulatory science for nearly 30 years. 🗣 FEEDBACK FROM EARLIER COURSES: 'Everything was explained well and it cleared things up for me I didn't know much about' 'It was an excellent overview of regulatory affairs' 'Very thorough and pitched at the right level' ‘Tutor very knowledgeable and approachable’ ‘Very detailed, but not long and boring’ ’First rate tutor - clear and concise’ To register for the event, please visit our website here: https://lnkd.in/ecxPQpgW

We're delighted to share a summary of our recent K.I.S.S Formulations event from our Personal Care Group chair Nick Dixon. "KISS Formulations took the idea of simplifying formulations for a simple pitch to consumers and looked at the complexity of doing this! We started with current and future trends as the pandemic has changed what consumers look for in products and coupled this with regulatory drivers as reasons that many ingredients may need to be changed. We learned that while a simple skincare product can be done, it may not be enough to stand out and be seen to give value to the consumer and we explored ways to add value without creating long INCI lists. Fragrance allergen regulations also mean more ingredients are required to be listed making products look more complex. Moving onto shampoos, while sulfates may be under pressure from labelling and impurities, replacing them requires combinations of surfactants to give a similar effect, so all is not straightforward. The formula once you have it requires making and we found that cold processing, quick mixing ingredients could be the ones giving the formulator simplicity in the factory, coupled with simplifying the packaging. This was rounded off with looking at claim support and maximising what benefits could be taken from showing conditioning for hair and moisturising for skin. Finally we had a lively discussion on how complicated simplicity can be and this carried on into the car park as people left for home." We're already looking forward to our 2025 event, watch this space!
