As we race towards 2025, health trends are on the rise and not surprisingly it’s predicted that many will be looking to increase protein in their diets. With the cost of protein-fortified powders soaring and ultra-processed foods and weight loss injections hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons, 2025 could see a pivot to meeting our protein needs from whole foods such as cheese. Cheese is not only delicious and versatile but also a powerhouse of protein. The benefits are well known to be vital to support building and maintaining muscle mass. Celebrity trainers such as Harley Pasternak, who has worked with stars such as Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Robert Pattinson, emphasise the critical role of protein for muscle repair and overall health. He often recommends incorporating protein-rich cheeses such as mozzarella and Italian cheese into meals for an easy and delicious protein boost. Gunnar Peterson, known for training celebrities including Jennifer Lopez and the Kardashians, also stresses the necessity of protein in maintaining muscle mass – highlighting cheese as a versatile and tasty source of high-quality protein. So in 2025, we're gearing up for a rise in demand for Mozzarella as it is considered to be a healthier choice with 20g of fat per 100g, which is much lower than a cheddar, usually around 35g per 100g. It also has around 24g of protein per 100g. Like other cheeses, it is a good source of calcium and can help prevent osteoporosis. Fresh mozzarella has a lot of probiotics to help the gut too – another health trend featuring heavily in 2024 which I’m sure will continue into the new year. In 2025 we predict there’ll be an increased focus on nutrients from the versatile cheese world and these protein powerhouses will make 2025 the year of protein-powered health.

It’s not that long ago the Great British Sandwich was something to avoid. 🚫 It often consisted of nothing more than two slices of white bread, a bit of butter and a slice of something fairly bland in the middle. 🍞 🧈 If you were really lucky, the crusts might have been cut off the bread to make it more posh. 🧐 Thankfully those days are now behind us. In fact, the British sandwich has evolved so completely that it is now often hard to keep up with the latest trends. To help out, we’ve come up with a range of great flavours we think will hit the spot on National Sandwich Day – or any other day of the year for that matter. So here’s some things you can try today: 🔥 Smokey sensation: Instead of a plain cheese why not get your taste buds tingling with our fantastic smokey cheese mix? The mix of mature smoked cheddar, coloured cheddar and mozzarella adds lovely depth and texture to any sandwich and is perfect throughout autumn and winter. 🧀 Texture time: Any sandwich can be brought to life with the addition of a great textured cheese. Why not try something like a West Country extra mature cheddar, which will give a bit of crunch from the crystals and a good punch of flavour. 🥪 Just toastie: With the weather starting to get colder, what better than switching your sandwich up and turning it into a toastie? Our smokey cheese mix is just the thing for the perfect toasted sandwich – winning gold at the International Cheese and Dairy Awards in the cheese on toast category! 🧀 🧀 Double delight: You can add twice the flavour by doubling up on your cheese. Why not combine our smokey cheese with a continental cheese such as Emmental to bring a different flavour profile. And if you’re making a grilled cheese sandwich, have one cheese in the filling and then add a layer of another cheese on the top. ⚖️ Balancing Act: Balancing the flavours of the sandwich is important. Cheese should always complement the filling and help enrich the flavour. Think of adding a mix of cheddar and mozzarella if your filling contains jalapenos, or Red Leicester & Mature Cheddar with a spring onion mayo filling, or Mozzarella with a steak sandwich. We reckon they’ll have your mouth watering in no time. And remember, whatever your filling, there’s always a cheese to bring it to life. Do tell us your favourite combos – we’d love to hear them. #nationalsandwichday #worldsandwichday

This time last week, we met together with fellow West Midland manufacturers to celebrate the end of being the first cohort of the AND Digital AI Adoption Accelerator programme. The course has given SME’s like ourselves, the opportunity to understand how they can use AI to improve processes and service levels. We are now excited to seeing what the future holds! Thank you to Bradley Quinn , Leena Pankhania, Justin Kilpatrick, Perminder Dhillon and all the AND Digital Team for their support over the last few months. #SME #aiadoption #westmidlandsmanufacturer #cheesemanufacturer

Manufacturing confidence is likely to remain low for some time in the wake of yesterday’s Budget, according to our MD Michael Harte. The increase in National Insurance payments for employers coupled with pessimism about the state of the UK economy would undoubtedly have an impact across the sector. But he welcomed the government’s commitment to driving environmental sustainability, which mirrored his own company’s determination to cut emissions. “I have no doubt that the Chancellor has inherited a hugely difficult situation and had a very limited set of cards to play. “The focus on innovation and commitment to making Britain a clean energy superpower, is certainly a move in the right direction. Time is running out to save this planet for our children and we simply cannot sit back and ignore the science. “For example, we’ve been working with local partners to significantly reduce the amount of PPE we send to landfill and also rationalising our transport miles to make sure we reduce our carbon footprint as much as we can. “We also agree with the Chancellor that the best way for the UK economy to improve – and help fund our public services – is through promoting growth. “But the Chancellor’s measures look likely to add more cost to business rather than reduce it and make investing in that growth much more difficult. We had already seen business confidence fall at the fastest pace for nearly five years last month, and I’m not sure yesterday’s announcement will turn that around.” #UKmfg #Budget2024

Meet Gurpreet our Quality Assurance Assistant who works alongside our Technical team to ensure we continue to maintain our high standards. 🧀 My job is to ensure good manufacturing practice and hygiene rules within the factory, support compliance within all relevant food safety and quality regulations including HCCP and GMP. I also compile reports on findings and recommendations for collective actions. 📅 I have worked in the food industry for 18 years and I have been at Bridge Cheese for just over 3 years. 🤩 Bridge Cheese is a great place to work, staff are enthusiastic, experienced in their different roles and everybody works as a team. 🦸♀️ My superpower is helping people, as I work with various departments everyday. ❤️ I like working at Bridge Cheese as it's a friendly environment where everyone helps each other. 😋 My favourite cheese is Mature Cheddar because it is slightly buttery and melty. #MeetTheTeam #BridgeCheese
