Ahead of their 2024 Christmas concerts at St James’s Parish Church in Paddington at the weekend, it was a pleasure to host the Metropolitan Police Choir for their final rehearsal at the BMT ZigZag office last week. With the building dressed for Christmas, the choir brought festive joy with their vocal harmonies and undoubtedly left well practiced and ready to delight their audiences. BMT has been providing business transformation and complex programme delivery services to central government, national security and law enforcement for several years. And it’s a pleasure and an honour to give back in even just a small way to this team of ordinary people, who are part of a wider group of individuals, teams and organisations across UK policing, who do extraordinary things every day to help keep all our communities safe and secure. #businesstransformation #complexprogrammedelivery

We’re delighted to share that Sara Victoria Packwood, our Global DEI and Wellbeing Lead, participated in a recent Inclusive Employers panel series to discuss innovative strategies for inclusive data collection. Sara shared how we tackled the challenge of navigating diversity data collection within the constraints of our global systems. By developing an in-house diversity data monitoring app on our intranet, we created a secure, pseudonymised method for gathering meaningful DEI insights. This approach combines: ▪️Quantitative data through Self-ID diversity demographic questions. ▪️Qualitative insights via an Inclusion Gallup Survey to explore employees’ perceptions of inclusion and belonging. Thanks to this approach, we’re building a robust, future-proof foundation for understanding and progressing equity across the employee journey. We’re proud to collaborate with Inclusive Employers, leveraging their expertise to advance our DEI strategy and foster an inclusive workplace for all. Global Business Development Lead, Offshore Wind at BMT

🥇 Gold Medal News from BMT! 🥇 Understanding the exact position and long-term structural integrity of floating offshore wind turbines means facing costly, unreliable sensors that are risky to access. The team at BMT, led by Suvabrata Das, Ph.D., tackled these challenges head-on, designing a cost-effective, reliable, and accessible solution – seamlessly paired with our proven #DigitalTwin technology. Their pioneering work, "Application of Digitalization and Digital Twins to Mooring Integrity Assessment of Floating Wind Platforms" was presented at the OMAE®2024 conference of ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers) in Singapore – and we’re proud to announce that it’s been judged 🏆 FIRST PLACE 🏆 among 53 offshore technology papers! Congratulations to Dr. Das, Dr. Soma Maroju, Jeffrey Lewis, and João Matheus Arantes for this outstanding achievement. Download a free authors’ copy of their award-winning paper here 👉 https://bit.ly/4gitDap Building on this success, we’re deploying these insights to provide cutting-edge asset integrity solutions for both floating and fixed-bottom offshore wind farms. It’s built on the cloud-based insights platform used today by the world’s biggest offshore energy producers: BMT DEEP 👉 https://bit.ly/3ViDPYb 🤷♂️ Why BMT? With decades of experience in offshore engineering, we offer advisory and asset integrity monitoring systems, empowering operators to lower operational costs, enhance safety, and extend asset lifespans. It was a pleasure to support the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI) Workboat Working Group Annual Seminar on Wednesday, 27th November in London. An engaging event which reaffirmed the energy, #innovation, and determination that define the workboat and coastal vessel sector as it tackles the challenges of #decarbonisation and the maritime energy transition. It was a thought-provoking day with a line-up of fantastic speakers including BMT's Jake Rigby offering innovative perspectives on the latest trends in Crew Transfer Vessels (#CTV). Chairing the day, BMT's Noel Tomlinson concluded that “Investment in infrastructure, policy alignment, and the development of alternative fuels remain pressing issues. Equally, ensuring the availability of skilled professionals to support innovation is vital. These challenges are significant, but they are not insurmountable, particularly when addressed through collaboration, a strength our industry has demonstrated time and again. By working together, we can ensure that the workboat and coastal vessel sector remains at the forefront of innovation, sustainability, and progress." #Workboats #EnergyTransition #Alternativefuels #MaritimeIndustry

"We need to act. We can do it, and we have to do it." Some compelling insights on decarbonisation from Dr Thomas Beard, our Clean Shipping lead, in this article from Mersey Maritime. Thomas argues that economic drivers are as essential as technical solutions for a successful maritime energy transition. He emphasises that high costs of alternative fuels and port infrastructure investment require strategic government support, with taxation and subsidies as essential levers. He urges immediate action in decarbonisation, noting that today’s reductions in emissions are increasingly valuable as the maritime industry confronts climate change. Enjoy reading the article, and contact Thomas if you would like to discuss this issue in more depth. https://bit.ly/3CvSY28 #CleanShipping #MerseyMaritime #Decarbonisation
