My colleague and podcast co-host Gregor Findlay and I have collaborated to create a set of #coaching question cards to help you engage in deeper, more meaningful #development #conversations. Some of the questions are intended for #selfreflection, others are for you to ask your direct reports in a #onetoone conversation. The rest are suitable for both. When the world is chaotic and uncertain, creating the space to tend to our own wellbeing is crucial. I’ve noticed many of my clients experiencing overwhelm, and for me personally, this year has involved a lot of change which can take a toll on our sense of wellbeing. As a coach, I find support and challenge through my supervision and through my personal therapy journey. I have also discovered the power of breathwork and yoga. In my coaching practice I support clients to find ways to introduce rituals that invite calm help to soothe the nervous system. With the inevitable busy-ness of the holiday season upon us, I invite you to look for moments of reflection. This could be a walk in nature, some quiet time reading, the opportunity to journal and look back at 2024 and ahead to 2025 or simply to notice your breath and try a breathwork exercise. Find out about how box breathing can calm the nervous system here: https://lnkd.in/gSDPfV3T #breathe #breathwork #stressmanagement #wellbeing #stress #overwhelm

As I look back on 2024, one of my reflections is the joy I’ve experienced through collaborating with brilliant coaches and practitioners in my field. Running a small business can get quite lonely and finding people with whom I can co-create is fulfilling and rewarding. It means that I’m able to achieve many things I wouldn't have been able to on my own. The Coaching Question Podcast began back in 2020 during lockdown. Gregor Findlay and I started out with a loose plan of recording episodes on coaching topics that we found interesting, and we interviewed a number of guests along the way. We have now recorded over 40 episodes. This year we decided to record a special series on the topic of Transactional Analysis (TA) in coaching. We both use TA in our coaching and find it a hugely valuable tool to share with clients, often bringing about big shifts in behaviour and self-awareness. We had a lot of fun in this series. We created some fictional clients and used these scenarios to bring to life how TA can transform our understanding of who we are in relationship with others. A lot of Bloom People’s work is focused on supporting working parents. And as a parent myself, this Christmas, I’ve chosen to make a donation to Zarach – a charity on a mission to end child bed poverty in England. There are 4.3 million children living in poverty and beds have become a luxury item for hundreds of thousands of families, who face the devastating decision to pay for food and fuel, or to buy their child a bed. Bed poverty exists when a family doesn’t have the sleeping arrangements they need for their children because of a lack of financial resources. For children in this situation, the impact on their education is significant. Zarach’s mission is to make sure that every child in England has a bed of their own, giving them a greater chance to learn and succeed at school, and in life. Becoming a parent for the first time is a big life transition. So many changes both at home and at work often take new parents by surprise, and it can take a while to adjust and settle into a new routine when returning to work. Furthermore, the extended period away from work combined with the new demands of parenting can impact on a parent’s confidence and sense of identity. Although parental leave may represent a pause in one’s career, it can also provide the opportunity to reflect and grow, revealing new or previously underappreciated skills and strengths. In my experience, coaching clients often find it difficult to acknowledge their own strengths, so finding tools to help facilitate your thinking can be helpful. Once you have developed a sense of your strengths, you will be able to use this knowledge to increase your confidence and enhance your mindset as you return to work. In this article we share four ways in which you can proactively take time to self-reflect and identify your strengths before diving back into work. #newparents #workingparents #returntoworkcoaching #parentalcoaching #parentalleave #humanresources
