We end the year reflecting on many achievements across our regions & the whole of Beard, all made possible by one thing – our people. This little reel is a lovely showcase of our community spirit & people going above & beyond, giving their own time to support charities close to their hearts. 🫶 Raising more than £50,000 this year for charities, which includes match funding or top up donations from the Beard Charitable Foundation. Our Chairman, Mark Beard said: “I am exceptionally proud of all Beard colleagues & our partners & for the significant efforts they have put into helping charities & good causes this year, giving their own time & resource & taking on some impressive challenges. We're in the final stages of construction turning a council-owned disused garage plot in Bristol into affordable housing, using the innovative Gap House concept. Our Bristol Director Matt Cooper said: "The Gap House design is a thoughtful way to bring back to life disused urban spaces, & could contribute to addressing the housing crisis & improving local communities. Over Beard's 135-year history, we've been involved in many residential projects, but none quite like this. Working with factory-made panels & within the limits of a small site has presented challenges that the team has embraced. It's been exciting to apply the innovative new methods to create sustainable, contemporary & affordable homes in the city." This year's team of talented construction trainees are making great progress in their year of on-the-job training across our regional offices. Part of our long-standing commitment to inspire & develop rewarding careers in the construction industry. 💫 Our Head of People & Communications, Melissa Barber said: "We’re proud to invest in the next generation of professionals as they lay the foundations for rewarding careers in construction. By 2028, 250,000 extra construction workers will be required to meet industry demand, according to figures from the Construction Industry Training Board. So it's vital that, as an industry, we support new talent with training, guidance & mentorship & address the rising demand for skilled professionals in the industry. The placement year is just one way we support entrants to the sector.
