Tabarak Ur Rehman Chaudhry —a young gentleman settled comfortably in the USA—ran an astonishing 1,600 kilometers from Islamabad to Karachi. But why? What drove him to embark on such an arduous journey? For many, his actions might seem incomprehensible. They see him as "crazy," someone with nothing better to do. But Tabarak is not just running—he’s running to raise awareness about education in Pakistan. In a country where 26.2 million children are out of school, including 14 million girls, what compelled him to take on this challenge? In a land where millions of children cannot dream because poverty and lack of education have robbed them of their futures, what inspired him to push forward, step after step, for 1,600 kilometers? Consider the harsh realities he’s running against: 3.3 million children trapped in child labor, losing their childhood, health, and education. Millions of young girls forced into early marriages, with 31% married before the age of 18. Only 34% of children under five registered at birth, denying them a legal identity and a fair start in life. Despite these daunting statistics, Tabarak dared to hope. He dared to run for change in a country where education is often a distant dream for many. He is “mad” because he chooses to think positively about the nation he belongs to. He is “crazy” because he believes in the power of education to transform lives. Tabarak’s roots in Pakistan have inspired him to dream big, not just for himself but for millions of children who deserve the chance to learn, grow, and thrive. Let’s celebrate and support this incredible act of love and determination. Together, we can turn this “madness” into a movement for a brighter, better Pakistan. The Citizens Foundation Farhan M.
