  • This week, we were honoured to celebrate the portrait of Florence Boot going on public display for the first time at the National Portrait Gallery. Previously displayed at Lenton House, this incredible artwork was officially unveiled at a special event on Monday, 25 November, marking a significant moment in the history of Boots and the No7 brand. Florence Boot was a true pioneer, championing women’s independence, creativity, and equality. Her progressive values continue to inspire us today. The event brought together Florence’s descendants, Boots brand partners, and representatives from the retail and beauty industry to honour her remarkable legacy. Speakers included our Managing Director, Anthony Hemmerdinger; Ornella Barra, Chief Operating Officer of WBA; and Florence’s great-great-granddaughter, Emma Houston. Reflecting on Florence’s trailblazing contributions, Sophie Clapp from our Archives team shared: “Florence publicly supported the right of women to seek independence, earn their own money, and have an outlet for their creativity. Florence was born and raised in the Victorian era, but her progressive social values belonged much more to the 20th century.” We’re incredibly proud to see Florence’s legacy recognised in such a prestigious setting, reflecting the enduring impact of her vision for Boots and the No7 brand. • Yesterday we asked 'What year was Botanics first introduced' - and the answer is .... Botanics was introduced in 1995 as a skincare range, combining modern day technology with the latest in active natural ingredients, such as yucca and Australian Tea Tree Oil. All products were designed to be gentle on the skin and provide effective skincare that was an ‘indulgent pleasure to use.’ Haircare was added to the brand portfolio later that year, followed by bath and body, deodorants and a men’s range. • We know the festive season is here when The Green House lights are switched on! Our Isle of Wight office was recently awarded ‘BREEAM In Use’ certification. A BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) assessment uses recognised measures of performance, which are set against established benchmarks, to evaluate a building’s specification, design, construction and use. The measures represent a broad range of categories and criteria from energy to ecology. Liz Earle has demonstrated that The Green House property performs well under independent analysis, and for a building of its age is well above average versus UK property metrics.
