📢 Development of GWO training network in the Caucasus region Occupational Training International (OTI) has recently opened a new training centre in Azerbaijan, the first GWO-certified training centre in the Caucasus region. While attending COP29, Global Wind Organisation’s Jakob Lau Holst, CEO, and Sergei Perapechka, Strategic Partnerships Developer, visited the facility. The OTI training centre is certified to deliver GWO’s Basic Safety Training Standard (BST) for technicians working on wind farm construction and operations in Azerbaijan and Central Asia. This development will support implementation of the ‘Offshore Wind Roadmap for Azerbaijan’ released in 2022, setting the ambitious target of 1/3 of renewables in overall power supply. An important milestone of the plan is exemplified by the Memoranda of Understandings (MOUs) signed by SOCAR Green, Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) and ACWA Power at COP29 Azerbaijan to develop Azerbaijan’s first offshore wind farms by 2030. Jakob Lau Holst, CEO of Global Wind Organisation, remarked: “Accelerating renewable energy development by 2030 will require support from the development of a strong network of regional training providers adhering to the highest safety and technical standards developed by GWO for the industry.” GWO would like to thank all at OTI for their hospitality during the visit. ➡️Read more about the GWO COP29 session here: https://lnkd.in/dMnPUxYh #COP29 #RenewableEnergy #OccupationalTrainingInternational #GWO #Caucasus #EnergyTransition #SustainableFuture #WindEnergy #WorkforceDevelopment #GlobalCooperation #CleanEnergy

🚨 The Global Wind Workforce Outlook (GWWO) 2024-2028 has officially launched at GWEC's APAC Wind Energy Summit! 💥 Produced by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and Global Wind Organisation, this comprehensive report delves into the rapidly growing demand for wind energy technicians, the increasing role of AI and automation in the sector, and the critical need for workforce training to meet global energy targets. This 5th edition of #GWWO is an essential resource for anyone in the wind industry looking to understand workforce dynamics, policy interventions, and the role of emerging technologies in shaping the future of wind energy. As global wind capacity expands, the demand for skilled workers is more pressing than ever. By 2028, we will need over 532,000 technicians to build and maintain wind fleets, both onshore and offshore. A 6-8% vacancy rate is expected, leaving employers to confront significant labour shortages and under-skilled candidates. Key Findings: 🔹 The wind industry needs 500,000+ technicians by 2028. 🔹 40% of these roles will need to be filled by new entrants to the sector. 🔹 Training and policy frameworks are critical for building a resilient workforce. 🔹 Governments must invest in vocational training and remove regulatory barriers to ensure a skilled, global workforce. ❇️ Special Feature: This year’s report includes a special feature by our leading sponsor, Beam. Titled: "Bridging the Gap: AI Innovation in Offshore Wind," focusing on the transformative impact of AI on offshore wind projects. Download The Report: https://lnkd.in/dFyvKAqr Upcoming Webinars: Following the launch, we’ll dive deeper into the GWWO 2024-2028 findings with a series of webinars featuring industry experts: ✅ 3 Dec, 07:00 (UTC) – Focus on APAC markets ✅ 3 Dec, 10:00 (UTC) – Focus on EMEA markets ✅ 11 Dec, 15:00 (UTC) – Focus on Americas markets 💻 Register now: https://lnkd.in/eekEVCS
