What’s the key to net zero? Taking that first step towards it 🌍 https://lnkd.in/dJpzc9eB Like so many things in life, the most important thing about your net-zero journey is just getting started. And getting started, that first step – well, that isn’t so hard. And then you take the next. And the next and the next. And so on. OK, so you might not hit net zero in 2025, but taking baby steps now means you’re heading in the right direction. Let’s talk about five smart strategies to kickstart and supercharge your journey to net zero in 2025. ⚡ Optimise for energy efficiency For many businesses, the most easily controllable emissions are those related to energy use. Whether you’re generating your own energy (Scope 1 emissions) or buying it (Scope 2 emissions), optimising your consumption can work wonders. ⚡ Shift to renewable energy Ready to ditch energy-related emissions entirely? Time to embrace renewable energy like your business depends on it (spoiler: it does). Invest in infrastructure to produce energy for your premises using natural resources like wind or sunlight. ⚡ Move to a certified green building Here’s a plot twist: You don’t need to own the building you operate in to cut emissions. If you’re leasing, consider relocating to a certified green building. ⚡ Engage stakeholders, all of them Targeting direct emissions (Scope 1 and 2) is one thing. But let’s talk about Scope 3 emissions – your value chain. These emissions are often the main obstacle to achieving net zero emissions. ⚡ Opt for high-quality, vetted, and verifiable offsets (with caution) Carbon offsets are like the cherry on top, not the whole dessert. They should be your last resort after exhausting other reduction strategies. Hit the link up there ☝️ for even more.

As with most things, breaking it down is the best place to start. So if you’re feeling overwhelmed: a) Don’t worry – you’re not the only one b) Start here – then tackle each task one at a time c) Get in touch – we can help with the required energy and emission data collection d) Don’t panic – you’ll get there Alright. Let’s get started!

The climate crisis is so hot right now 🔥 https://lnkd.in/dAXBixii But that's not the only reason more and more companies are looking into how they can reduce their carbon footprint. Ever-growing regulations are making it an unavoidable task – and rightly so. Governments worldwide are adopting frameworks and regulations to target industries, especially those notorious for greenhouse gas emissions, and to comply with those regulations, companies must set targets and achieve them by the stipulated deadline. And, whether mandated or voluntary, efforts to reduce carbon footprint must be based on targets. Why? It’s simple – you can’t take the right actions without a clear target. So, just how do you set the right targets? And what simple actions can you take to move towards those targets? Find out via the link above 👆

Everything you need to know about LEED certification in one place 👉 https://lnkd.in/dpQsRCGV What’s LEED? It’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. Sounds good _ and it is good! It’s a much sought-after building certification (over 105,000 buildings worldwide have received it!). But get this. It’s not just for buildings; it can also be achieved for neighbourhoods and even entire cities 🤯 What does it do? Well, certifications like LEED show that the design and performance of built environments is eco-friendly. Which is something we really need, given the building and construction sectors are responsible for 37% of global emissions. Ouch. Interested? You should be. Check out the link above to learn more about LEED and to find out how you can get your building (or city, if you’ve got one) certified ✅

How do you solve the problem of ESG reporting in the real estate industry? With comundo and the Real ESG framework, that’s how 💡 Collecting energy data and calculating emissions from properties is probably the most time-consuming task there is when it comes to reporting. It is, to put it mildly, a real pain. But not anymore. The Real ESG framework is a tool that streamlines ESG reporting and makes it more transparent, accessible and reliable. And now, with comundo, just one click populates the framework with energy consumption data and calculated emissions from your entire portfolio. Simple – just how we like it 🙌 Interested? Are you even a tech company if you don’t do an AI hackathon? 🤖 Last week, we held our first hackathon (AI, Captain!) in Copenhagen with the whole comundo crew. It was brilliant. Not least because we got everyone together 💚 When you’re split across three countries it can be hard to find the time to get everyone in the same place, at the same time, but we got lucky; children were babysat, partners were placated and schedules were cleared. The goal for this meeting of minds was; how can AI improve the comundo platform for our customers? It was an interesting theme and something of a slippery slope. There are lots of things AI could do. But should we do them? Would they really solve problems and address needs – or would they simply clutter the platform and cause confusion (or even extra work)? You don’t have to look far to see examples of AI being used just because it can be used. We wanted to avoid that and instead try to dig into cases where it would bring actual value to our customers – not just a buzzword. Last month, we all anonymously suggested problems or use cases and we ended up with a total of 13 cases we could choose from. On day one of the two-day hackathon, we split up into three teams and were let loose! On the second day, each team presented their case, solution, and a working demo, and votes were cast 🥁 We can’t go into too much detail about the winner, but it was a solid case that will move into production next year. And, in case you’re wondering, it will definitely solve problems for customers, both current and future, here and abroad 💪 The whole experience was a testament to just how much is possible when you put everyone in the same place, give yourself time, and let your imagination run wild. The collaboration across teams was an inspiration and it’s safe to say that this will not be the last hackathon held. A huge thanks to Vaidas, our engineering manager, for initiating and supervising this. We couldn’t have done it without you 🙏 And of course, a huge and hearty thank you to all the other comundo buccaneers! 🏴☠️
