Excited to Be in Tuvalu for a Major Milestone! Our COO, Dillip Kanji and Project Manager, Sean Connor were thrilled to be in Tuvalu last week, meeting with government officials and conducting a project review of the FTTP deployment, which we’ve had the privilege of managing. This visit marks a significant milestone: we’ve successfully connected our first customer, paving the way for a transformational shift in scaling deployments and bringing connectivity to more communities across this beautiful island nation. This achievement reflects the power of collaboration, dedication, and the shared vision to drive progress and opportunity. Looking forward to the next steps and continuing to expand the impact of this initiative. Stay tuned for updates as we work to bridge the digital divide and create lasting change!

Last Friday the Penrose Office in Auckland embraced the holiday spirit with their 2024 Christmas Party. The festivities began earlier in the day with a Xmas Quiz, organised by The Social Club, and an exciting round of online bingo, hosted by Sam Foliaki. These engaging activities set the perfect tone for an unforgettable celebration. A big thank you to everyone who were involved in arranging both these activities! Later, the team gathered in the warehouse, which had been transformed and reimagined into a festive hub. It was a fun-filled afternoon of delicious food, refreshing drinks, and exciting games that brought everyone together. A huge shoutout to Dewald and Mark from the HSE team for serving up a mouth-watering BBQ – a true crowd-pleaser. We also want to give a special thanks to Sam Foliaki and Sam Tai Tin, who outdid themselves by putting together the tiki themed bar area. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this celebration so memorable. Here's to a wonderful holiday season! #ChristmasParty2024 #TeamUCG #HolidayCheers

UCG proudly relies on our Delivery Partner companies to service the construction and maintenance requirements of Chorus and keep Aotearoa connected to ultrafast broadband. On this occasion, we would like to recognise IGM Technology, as part of our ‘Meet our Delivery Partner’ series. IGM Technology has been a Delivery Partner of UCG since 2016, and has grown from a small team focused on provisioning works, to a trusted provider of a wide range of telecom services, including connecting buildings, civil projects, MDUs, NPDs, ROWs, reinstatements and fixing faults in the network. Business owner Isuru says his team truly values the collaborative relationship they enjoy with UCG, and the expertise and support provided by UCG’s Field Managers and Project Managers, as well as monthly toolbox meetings that proactively manage project risks. ‘’The telecommunications industry offers dynamic and flexible work with opportunities to travel and tackle diverse projects. UCG has given the team and I the chance to collaborate with other players in the telecommunication industry and continuously learn through the process”.

Last Friday, our office was lit up with the vibrancy of Diwali, the Festival of Lights! Although we celebrated Diwali a bit later this year, the decorations and festive spirit in our office was bright as ever, reminding us of the importance of togetherness, positivity, and the triumph of light over darkness. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch that left everyone smiling and satisfied. A special thank you to Mike for arranging the incredible food. Here's to celebrating our diverse cultures here at UCG and making cherished memories together as one team. #DiwaliCelebration #FestivalOfLights #UCGDiwali #DiversityAtUCG

Congratulating Dayln Brider, our Technical Training Lead who recently completed the, Auckland Run the City One New Zealand 11 km traverse, finishing with a time of 1:29:21. “Considering that I’m 54 years old and had not run seriously in over 35 years since my national service, I am quite satisfied with the result, and grateful to the UCG Senior Leadership Team for granting me flexible lunch breaks to train over the past four months. When I first began training, it took me up to 16 minutes to complete a kilometre. However, on race day, I was able to achieve a personal best lap time of just 7.5 minutes. This event was a rewarding challenge, and thankful to UCG for the support” Well done, Davlyn!

On October 30, our NZ office was transformed into a haunted haven as we celebrated Halloween in style! From ghoulish costumes to creepy treats, we had it all. We also enjoyed a fantastic, pot-luck lunch, sharing the creepy Halloween themed treats together. What’s an office Halloween day without a bit of competition? A huge shoutout to our winners across the following categories: Best Costume: Kim – Your scary ensemble was to ‘die’ for. Best Spooky Dish: Lychee Eyeball Soup prepared by Arsheyy from Escalations – a sweet, gory and wonderful dish. Best Decorated Office Space: The Faults team outdid themselves with a spectacularly spooky Zombie Prison theme. Thank you to the UCG Social Club for another great event, Fred for the amazing photos and to all staff who participated. Our Philippines based team also embraced Halloween and brought the theme to life.
