Recently, three members of the Philanthropy New Zealand team attended the Empowering Communities conference in Christchurch, organised by Community Foundations of Aotearoa New Zealand. Gin, PNZ’s Head of Events and Member Engagement, shared her reflections on the event: “The conference demonstrated the passion, expertise, and warmth that define the philanthropic sector. Eleanor Cater, Arron Perriam, and the CFANZ team created an environment where attendees felt comfortable to challenge ideas, reflect deeply, and engage both operationally and emotionally.” From Philanthropy New Zealand’s perspective, the conference provided valuable insights into how community foundations operate in New Zealand. These insights will help inform PNZ’s strategy moving forward. The team left the conference discussing how PNZ could help drive up giving to communities through foundations and how it might better support the donor journey toward more impactful philanthropy.
