Updates

  • 🏖️ Sneaking in a last-minute update before we kick back and take a well-deserved break with family and friends. 🤩 We’re thrilled to announce Richard Rowley has joined the team as a Senior Software Engineer. 🔧 With his passion for API development and experience across finance, banking and some of New Zealand’s most iconic brands like #Trade_Me and #Xero, it’s a big win for #JNCTN. ⏲️ It’s all hands on deck as we push into the US electricity market and deepen our relationships with major power companies so Richard’s timing couldn’t be better! 🍫 If you’re into Stephen King’s work, hit him up for a chat – he’s a big fan! He's also a chocolate connoisseur, the darker the better!

🚀 It's not every day you get to listen to one of the Chief Architects from NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration. 🌏 Angela Krenn is visiting #Aotearoa as a guest of the Paihau-Robinson Research Institute, and is leading the global engagement on NASA’s system’s engineering approach to strategy. 🛰️The Hēki mission team at Paihau is playing a pioneering role in space research having shipped superconducting magnet technologies to the Kennedy Space Center, ready for launch to the International Space Station. 👏 Thanks Rodney, Patrick and the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce team for a great collab – a fabulous note to end the year on. 15+ years as an IBEW Lineman, I use social media and workforce solutions like JNCTN to drive engagement. In today’s market, it’s not just about competing for work, but for the workforce itself.Opinions pieces are my own.

I never set out to become an Internet personality. I set out to fix a problem. I love what I do—fixing powerlines where others see danger or difficulty. I’ve always embraced the adventure and challenge of this work. But over the years, I’ve realized something: linemen are some of the most underrated professionals in society. We’re handed incomplete specs, thrown into systems we’ve never seen before, and expected to restore power safely and quickly—no matter the conditions. It’s a job that demands resilience, skill, and grit. My life has taken a turn I never imagined. I’ve dedicated myself to a new mission: to credentialize and hold accountable my fellow workforce. Not because I wanted to—but because no one else would. If I could have simply pointed out the problem and walked away, I would have, in fact I tried to- several times. But when no one listened, I realized I had to stay and fight. That fight became JNCTN a solution born from sleepless nights and the growing weight of this responsibility. Why am I doing this? Maybe it’s because I’m the youngest of eight brothers. I’ve felt what it’s like to be powerless, to face unfair systems, and to see bullies go unchecked. Fixing it requires strength—and sometimes, becoming the “bigger bully.” When I first raised these concerns, I was silenced—too young, too ambitious, too “new” to be taken seriously. So I bided my time. Now, with the support of 60,000 followers—many of them my peers and coworkers—I have a voice, a shield, and a platform to push for change. I don’t take that responsibility lightly. I’ll keep fighting for manpower, industry accountability, and the safety of the trade I love. But truthfully, I never wanted to. I just wanted to build powerlines with my friends, still do. I’m begging this industry to take notice—because I’m tired of losing them. #Accountability #LinemanLife #JNCTN #WorkforceSafety International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) JNCTN

  • 👇 👇 Check this out from Alex, our North American #JNCTN advocate, and all-around excellent #IBEW lineman. 👏

“Game-changing technology doesn’t start with universal acceptance—it starts with a challenge.” When Samsara first introduced fleet cameras, companies were skeptical. “Why should we invest in this?” they asked. The answer came when insurers noticed fewer claims and lower risks. Suddenly, dash cameras weren’t an expense—they were a necessity. Today, Samsara’s cameras save companies millions by: → Reducing liability → Improving safety → Lowering insurance premiums JNCTN is poised to lead the next transformation. Data security and workforce compliance are major expenses today. But JNCTN turns those costs into efficiency, liability reduction, and savings. Insurance providers are taking notice—just like they did with Samsara. Here’s the future: → Improved compliance → Streamlined workforce management → Lower premiums The first companies to adopt JNCTN will not only lead in innovation—they’ll enjoy the PR, the savings, and the peace of mind that come with it. (Yes, I know it’s Thanksgiving.) But when your work feels like your purpose, it doesn’t fit into a schedule. This isn’t just my dream—it’s a solution my brothers are asking for. These are field workers who dislike tech but hate inefficiency even more. Ask your team how they feel about your hiring or re-hiring process. Do they trust it? Does it protect their data? I’m not doing this for me. I’m doing this to fix a broken system. You don’t even need to credit me. Just make the change->>Dan Stemp Turn costs into an advantage. Let’s lead this together. What do you think? Does this resonate with your team’s challenges? Let’s connect.

So many awesome keynotes and community meetups at #SunriseNZ2024 in Wellington yesterday. 👌 One in particular supported the theme of celebrating exceptionalism in Aotearoa. 🎤 It was listening to Rowan Simpson, a successful serial Founder and Joel Little, a Grammy Award-winning songwriter, musician and record producer, chat about the nuances of being a ‘Producer’, and how that role transcends music and tech. 🎧 Joel spoke about working with music icons and getting the best out of them by being his authentic relaxed self and trusting the process. Rowan expressed his preference for collaborating with people who were coachable and receptive to taking advice to optimise their results. 🏆They talked about the highs and lows of success, the thrill of the chase and the feelings of what’s next after big exits and winning major accolades. Word to the wise, asking ‘what’s next?’ can be slightly irritating. 🐏 Kiwiness – too much, too little, be more American – yeah nah! And is ‘pretty good’ good enough when talking about our successes in international markets. My take on this was be genuine, be authentic, be confident and back yourself. 😎 Loved the trip down memory lane with the Trade Me home page – our design asthetics have really evolved. 🐦⬛ Thought the double act format worked well Blackbird - thank you! 🌅 More info about Sunrise and its cultural celebration in the comments.

data ➡️ attestation Address ➡️ is a NSW resident Payroll slip ➡️ is employed Passport no ➡️ is an Australian citizen Date of birth ➡️ is above 18 Bank statement ➡️ has Australian bank account Driver Licence no ➡️ is authorised to drive You can see from above - how sending copies of our drivers licence, passport, bank statement etc would enable bad actors to quickly build a detailed profile about us 🟰 a significant cyber risk 😞 🔹 A bouncer doesn’t need our full date of birth - unless an astrology read is also on offer 🧐 they just need to make sure you are above 18 years 🔹same rationale applies with so many other instances when we are asked to provide a copy of our licence, passport etc With digital ID and verifiable credentials - we can move into a far more secure world. In essence - this is what the Trust Exchange (TEx) that Min Bill Shorten recently announced is aimed to do … replacing sensitive data - with an attestation ✅ Will provide a further update soon on some of the pilots underway at Services Australia
