#Water, #wastewater, #sanitation, and their management remain critical challenges in many parts of #Africa, presenting compelling reasons and significant opportunities for (German) companies to introduce innovative solutions and technologies to the region. -> A large number of people still lack access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation services. Rural and remote areas are particularly affected, but also urban growth centers struggle to keep pace with the demands of rapid urbanisation which is prevalent on the continent. At the same time, infrastructure is outdated or inadequate. -> Industrial wastewater is becoming a growing concern, with untreated or poorly treated effluents often discharged directly into rivers and lakes, harming biodiversity, and posing severe risks to ecosystems and public health. ->Climate change is intensifying water scarcity and variability, underscoring the need for sustainable and scalable water and sanitation solutions and integrated management strategies. Collaboration and innovation are crucial. “How Can African-German #Collaboration Drive #Innovation in the #Transformation of Water and Wastewater Management?” At #GABS2024 in Nairobi, I’ll have the privilege of moderating an engaging session on exactly this topic! I’m thrilled to share the stage with an incredible panel of experts from divers backgrounds: Lucy Wanjiku Mutinda SEWAGE Recycling Engineering , Sabine Sibler / German Water Partnership, Solomon Letangule / Kenya Water Institute, and Belete A. Matebe / WILO. Join us for this insightful discussion on December 3rd, from 16:00 to 17:30. I look forward to exploring solutions and exchanging ideas—see you there!
