🌱 Pay Now or Pay More Later: The Soil Health Equation 🌍 As grocery prices continue to rise, there’s a hidden factor driving the increase—declining soil health. Degraded soils are becoming less productive, making it harder for farmers to meet global food demand. The impact? Rising food costs, increased reliance on chemical inputs, and growing threats to food security. But there’s good news. Solutions like biochar can restore soil fertility while helping tackle climate change. Investing in soil health today means: ✅ Higher crop yields ✅ Reduced greenhouse gas emissions ✅ Better livelihoods for smallholder farmers It’s a simple equation: Pay now by supporting soil health initiatives or pay more later as food prices continue to climb. 📖 Read more in our latest blog: https://lnkd.in/g5DTxAfu #SoilHealth #ClimateAction #Biochar #FoodSecurity #Sustainability #SmallholderFarmers #CarbonRemoval #RegenerativeAgriculture #NetZero #SocialImpact

Reliable and scalable solution working with smallholder farmers to create biochar from crop waste instead of burning it.
เกี่ยวกับเรา
An impact venture of Warm Heart Worldwide, Biochar Life cools the climate by helping to remove carbon from the atmosphere. We mobilize a huge previously untapped human resource, the smallholder farmers of the developing world, to convert currently burned crop waste, a huge, previously ignored source of greenhouse gases, into carbon sequestering biochar. We train smallholder farmers to biochar, not burn, their crop waste, certify the amount of carbon removed, provide access to global carbon offset markets for the verified carbon sequestration and ensure immediate payment, thereby encouraging others also to biochar, not burn.

💡 Why buy carbon removal credits that are 5x the price of others? The carbon market is booming, but it’s also raising big questions. For example: Why do some credits cost just €7 per ton, while others range from €150-200 and even soar to €800+ per ton? Why pay more? 🤔 ☝🏼 The answer lies in what you’re paying for— the difference between avoidance, reduction, and true removal solutions. High-tech methods like Direct Air Capture (DAC) come with a price tag for a reason, but are they worth it to meet your goals? 👥 To get these and many other answers, watch the full interview with Robin (Carbonfuture) and Emil Adamik (SQUAKE) via the link in comments. #CarbonMarketsExplained #CarbonRemovalCredits #DirectAirCapture #AvoidanceVsRemoval #SustainableSolutions #CarbonCredits #NetZeroStrategy

🔥 New study: biochar permanence in real soils CONFIRMED 🔥 ✅ In a first of its kind, a peer reviewed study now shows what latest science has been telling us already: inertinite biochar does not decay in soils and represents permanent carbon removal. 🪨 As many of you know, the durability of biochar carbon removal (#BCR) has been an intense topic of discussion. Groundbreaking analysis by Hamed Sanei and Henrik I. Petersen has already demonstrated that we can measure the exact percentage of so-called inertinite in biochar, representing permanent carbon dioxide removal (#CDR). 🤔 A common concern, heard among others at the latest CRCF Expert Group meeting, is that we need actual evidence from real soils of how inertinite behaves in real soils. 😍 Well, we have just that now, thanks to biochar deposited in a Tuscan wine farm in 2009, unearthed now in 2024, prepared and analysed with modern reflectance rate testing. 🥊 The punchline: “This analysis clearly shows how the content of inertinite fraction share did not change during the 15 years in which biochar was active in soil, a soil which was subject to conventional farming practices, i.e. tillage, fertilisation, and all the typical farming operations carried out in vineyards. It confirms the permanence of such inertinite fraction under actual agricultural conditions even over long-term cultivation.” 💡 How much more evidence do we need? Are we going to continue to rely on short-term incubation experiments which erroneously extrapolate decay from volatile factions for millennia? Or are we finally going to trust compelling evidence that high quality biochars are largely composed of inertinite which does not decay in soils? 👏 Well done David Chiaramonti, Giulia Lotti, Francesco Primo Vaccari, and Hamed Sanei for literally getting your hands dirty to prove this important point. 🖇️ Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/dAyZ79hS 👏 What is your take? Can we consider the BCR permanence debate settled? ✉️ If you enjoyed this post and want to stay up to date on all things CDR, make sure to follow me here on LinkedIn (and turn on the 🔔) and do sign up to my monthly newsletter, the Gigaten: https://lnkd.in/d2BKe7gr
