𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 After spending the past year working in 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 Sevea, I’ve gained some important insights that I’d like to share: 1️⃣Many people still believe they don’t need to take responsibility for their 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, seeing it as someone else’s job. 2️⃣The 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, despite its vital role in recycling and collection, is often overlooked and underappreciated. 3️⃣There is significant potential to enhance both our 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 and 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀-𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 efforts to better address the scale of waste management challenges. 4️⃣The true impact of waste disposal in landfills is often ignored because these sites are located far from urban areas. However, for poor communities living near these "mountains of waste," the effects are immediate and devastating. Last week, I sought out a 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 by participating in a 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝘆 GGGI Cambodia. My goal was to listen to and observe the perspectives of the 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 on waste management. To my surprise, many young people volunteered to attend the session, driven by curiosity and concern about this critical issue. One of their main suggestions stood out to me: 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀. This resonated deeply because it reflects the need for actionable, community-driven solutions to tackle the waste crisis. For me, this experience reaffirmed that change starts with awareness and collaboration. The passion and ideas of these young participants were a reminder that we all have a role to play in building a more sustainable future. 💬 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀?
