  • Mole Series 35, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (#WASH) Conference: Under the Theme: Looking Back on SDG Six Implementation in Ghana. As a member of the Coalition of NGOs in Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS Ghana) it has been awe-inspiring to share center stage with all the distinguished WASH sector actors, organizations, academics, investors and stakeholders in Ghana. The experience over the past few days has been eye-opening and purposeful. With a renewed assurance to keep working in unison, we leave this conference with a greater sense of commitment to ensure no one is left behind in our quest to fulfill #SDGgoal6. • SITE VISITS: EcoCiv/W12+ Program on Water Security. We had the privilege of hosting Anna Hixson and Kajal Patel from the Institute for Ecological Civilization (EcoCiv) during a two-day working visit to Bolgatanga. During their visit, we shared our ongoing initiatives at Future for Africa. Together, we toured some of our beneficiary communities in the region to assess the current situation and evaluate the impact of our work on these communities. • #Empowering marginalized groups by reducing inequalities is crucial for building a just and inclusive society. In raising boys and girls, it’s vital to instill values of equality and fairness, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to thrive. In local African communities, this commitment to equality paves the way for sustainable development and a brighter future for all. 📍 Somewhere in the Bawku West District, Children excited and displaying #SDG goal cards.

  • Atongo Doreen recently sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) as a student of Sacred Heart International School in Bolgatanga. Doreen is an exceptional student with great motivation to study, which is reflected in her impressive academic record. We are hopeful to see her attending her favorite high school in a few months. Special Mentions: Madam Ernestina Adoku has been very inspirational in mentoring Doreen. Through her recommendation, we identified Doreen as a brilliant student who needed genuine support to get through school. We are glad that Eduardo Bargueno (@edu_bargueno23) accepted the offer to sponsor Doreen through the Future for Africa Sponsor A Child program. Patricia Gomez Barranco (@patri__gb) deserves a special mention for facilitating some of these amazing moments. We are glad our paths crossed last summer. 📸Photo Moment: Today, Noel (Irish volunteer and friend of @patri__gb) delivered a letter from @edu_bargueno23 and some presents for Doreen. These are moments we truly cherish! 🥰❤️

  • As an organization mobilizing passionate volunteers across the globe, our mission revolves around creating opportunities for these individuals to make meaningful contributions to local communities in Africa, Ghana, while fostering enriching intercultural exchanges. However, it's crucial to address how international volunteer work should not inadvertently perpetuate Western dominance or foster over-dependency within these communities.Acknowledging the complexities of this issue, it's essential to ensure that our efforts to address one problem do not inadvertently create others. By promoting responsible volunteerism, our organization aims to equip volunteers with the necessary preparation and mindset to contribute to development in a culturally sensitive and sustainable manner. Join us this week on "Convo with Global Citizens" as our esteemed panel members Wilson Ayinbangya Amooro and Paloma Moreno join Samuel Nayang delve into the nuances of unethical volunteering behaviors, dispel stereotypes, and address misconceptions about volunteering in Africa. Together, let's explore how we can all become responsible global citizens contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals through volunteerism. Join Us on Wednesday!
