Our team of volunteers joined local efforts in the fight against child malnutrition. In partnership with the Public Health Department of the South Tongu District Hospital, Sogakope. We educated mothers on the 4- Star Diet. The 4- Star Diet is a meal plan where the servings at each meal must contain nutrients from the four major food groups. These are Staples, Legumes, Animal Protein Sources and Fruits/Vegetables. This way, the child gets nutrients from the four main groups as part of an enriched complementary feeding. The team worked with participating mothers on how to combine locally available and accessible ingredients in preparing nutritious complementary meals.
