Scaling sustainable energy solutions in healthcare I travelled to #Namibia to meet with our dedicated MPower team and join EEP Africa on their site visit. This was not just a journey across borders; it was a step toward achieving tangible impact in energy access and healthcare electrification across Namibia and Zambia. Through our collaboration with EEP Africa, MPower Ventures AG is undertaking a project to electrify 10 health centres in Namibia and 20 in Zambia. These efforts will be supported by our innovative MediHubs—easily deployable systems that power a range of productive-use appliances, far beyond the basic energy needs of health institutions. By strategically positioning MediHubs near health centres, we ensure a sustainable, least-cost solution that directly benefits healthcare facilities while fostering community resilience. The MediHubs systems are complemented by remote monitoring systems, which measure parameters beyond solar generation, allowing us to enhance performance, improve cost efficiency, and ensure long-term sustainability of energy solutions. The outcomes of this project will be transformative. MPower will deploy 30 MediHubs, incl. electric vehicles, productive-use appliances, ultimately improving energy access for over 15,000 people. On an annual basis, this project is expected to generate 296 MWh of clean electricity, reduce 212,868 tCO2e, and save communities approximately EUR 122,000 in energy costs. Beyond these numbers, the project will create more than 200 jobs, with at least 35% of roles filled by women, further strengthening local economies and empowering communities. Namibia is one of MPower’s five markets, and this visit reinforced our commitment to expanding operations and driving positive change. As we scale MediHubs across Namibia and Zambia, we are not only advancing sustainable energy solutions but also improving lives, fostering economic development, and creating a cleaner, brighter future for all. I left Namibia inspired by the team’s dedication, the support of our board member Patty Karuaihe-Martin and the transformative potential of this project. Thank you to Chiedza Mazaiwana from EEP Africa and the Namibia team, Paulus Fillepus Ndinelago Nahambo, Ester Ndapanda Hamutwe, and Johannes shish Shishiiveni. We are just getting started, and the impact ahead is monumental. #namibia #impact #sustainable #healthcare #energy #solarenergy #greencommunity
