Delegates from 53 member countries actively progressing the ISO 41000 series of Facility Management (FM) standards.

Info

ISO/TC 267 representatives are drawn from 53 countries (P and O members) that have been actively progressing the international FM standards initiative since 2012. We have produced multiple documents within the ISO 41000 series focused on FM being the foremost contributor to a more productive, sustainable and liveable Built Environment and improved quality of life for all. What is Facility Management (FM)? Facility management has been defined as an "organizational function which integrates people, place and process within the built environment with the purpose of improving the quality of life of people and the productivity of the core business." [Source ISO 41011] FM is a strategic, professional discipline that provides optimum performance of support services to any and all types and sizes of organizations that it serves. The impact of a properly implemented strategic FM program goes beyond operations and maintenance. It can influence employee engagement and retention, support the demand organization's mission-critical assets, and minimize organizational risks. FM standards provide specific guidance for individual teams and organizations to demonstrate a commitment to quality and continuous improvement through a robust, systems approach to managing the support services needs and working environment of the demand organization. It is incumbent on facility managers worldwide to utilize the ISO 41000 series of FM standards in their organizations and promote a common language and approach for FM strategy and practices.

Brazil completes the translation process of ISO 41015 into Portuguese. The Brazilian version of ISO 41015 - Facility Management - Influencing Organisational Behaviours for Improved Facility Outcomes was published on 24th May 2024; the Portuguese title is #ABNT NBR ISO #41015 Facility Management - Influenciando Comportamentos Organizacionais para Gerar Melhores Resultados Finais nas Instalações. The process started in June 2023, shortly after the publication of the original English and French versions. An important decision was made when ABNT started translating the standards to Portuguese, to keep the translation faithful to the original standard and always in line with the other documents already published. The translation lasted three months, with weekly alignment meetings, discussion of the terms to be translated into Portuguese, and updating of a glossary of terms developed locally by the various working groups of the ISO #41000 family of standards, with the aim of providing general guidelines on the common terms used in the previous publications. We believe that the translation of this document represents a further step forward in the development of the sector in the domestic market, and portuguese talking parts of our globe. It is also strategic complementarity with the other documents already published. #ISO #facman #facilitymanagement #facilitiesmanagement #FM https://lnkd.in/eTxcZPa8

Interesting fact: Industry data suggests that the adoption of effective performance management and measurement can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of FM organizations by more than 10 percent when effectively implemented and maintained. That is one of the results of TC 267/Working Group 8 that recently completed a Technical Report (TR 41030) namend: “Facility management — Existing performance management in Facility Management organizations — State of the industry”. The Technical report is representing 18 months of review by ten National Standards Bodies across more than 120 published technical documents, surveys with facility managers on six continents. The effort was led by Luisa Plaza Urrutia from the Panamanian National Standards Body (APAFAM). It highlights the critical need for a management standard supporting Facility Managers in the development of performance management frameworks, supported by appropriate performance measures, that align their efforts and focus to those of their Demand Organizations. Sustainable Facility Management via the ISO 41000 series   ISO/TR 41019:2024 Facility management’s role in sustainability, resilience and adaptability (edition 1) has now been published. The members of ISO/TC 267 working group 1 (WG1) are delighted with this important Technical Report, that provides a broad societal context to inform and inspire organizations that wish to: - establish and improve a sustainable integrated FM system; - embrace the wide-ranging and positive contribution that FM makes in managing the built environment; - support the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).   This document provides a non-exhaustive contextual introduction to relevant concepts, initiatives and terms that are in common use by organizations, regardless of size, maturity or industry, working towards a more Sustainable FM approach.   The 17 SDGs provide a holistic global framework for addressing poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice in support of environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles, frameworks and reporting requirements. The management of our built environment figures directly and substantially in achieving such aspirations.   ISO/TR 41019:2024 is intended to be a concise and practical guidance for busy professionals and stakeholders on FM practices and contributions on some big issues, such as climate change, net zero emissions and the circular economy, etc. Additionally, the annexures provide SDG alignment matrix, a 10-step process, practical examples, links to related standards and a bibliography of 96 resources for more details.   ISO/TR 41019:2024 provides contextual insight into ways that demand organizations, FM professionals and their organizations can contribute to achieving a more productive, sustainable and liveable built environment for all.   Stephen Ballesty (AU) ISO/TC 267 WG1 41019 Project Lead #ISO #ISO41000 #ISO41019 #FM #Facilitymanagement #Facilitiesmanagement #SDGs #ESD #sustainability #resilience #adaptability #facman

Looking forward to meeting old colleagues and new at the Euro FM conference in London tomorrow where I will be highlighting the benefits of utilising and supporting the ongoing development of the ISO 41000 family of FM standards. Taking a slightly different approach to highlight the common sense of embracing the ISO 41001 Management System Standard in particular. Had to think of something to combat my presentation timing just after lunch 🤔🤨 #EuroFM #ISO41001 #facman #TrueFM #ISOTC267

One week ago, APAFAM welcomed the ISO/TC 267 committee for their annual plenary meeting in Panama-city. During the week several working groups took their advantage for meeting face-to-face. This resulted in productive work in reviewing and developing current and a new generation of Facility Management standards, technical reports and guidance documents. Later more updates of these developments. Also, the contribution to the APAFAM conference on Wednesday, by several ISO/TC 267 experts, with great attendance and enthusiasm of the regional FM community, gave a boost to our work. A special moment was the official announcement by the deputy Minister of Internal Trade, Candice Herrera, and her team from the Ministry of Trade and Industry that APAFAM now has established an official mirror committee to ISO/TC 267. The result of tremendous work done over the last few years by APAFAM and it experts. Recognition that the input of #APAFAM to the ISO/TC 267 helped in developing relevant international #FM standards that will align the discipline worldwide, and will do so in the future. We would like to thank APAFAM for their hospitality and warm welcome. A special thanks and compliment to Tanishka McQueen, ProFM and her team for letting us feel welcome! #facman #iso41001 #facilitymanagement #facilitiesmanagement #fm

Update on the review of ISO41001 Yesterday working group 9 of ISO/TC 267 did considerable work in de review of the FM standards flagship ISO41001. As it was the 2nd in person meeting since Trondheim 2023. The working group took the opportunity to discuss different topics that had been brought up by online meetings of the last few months. More than 30 participants representing 12 countries attended the hybrid meeting in Panama and discussed the following: ·        review of the 6 pages of comments received, ·        discussion of the current structure ·        discuss what needs to be added / changed / rewrite All to make the standard more future proof and even more in line with daily practice of Facility Management.   If you are interested in the work WG9 is doing, your insight and or contribution is more than welcome. Contact your national standards body how you can contribute to the work of TC267/WG9.   The working group meeting is one of many meetings organized this week by APAFAM, the Panama FM organization that is the host for the TC 267 Plenary 2024, several working groups of the Technical Committee and the APAFAM conference. #ISO41000 #FM #ISO #FACMAN #Facilitymanagement #ISO41001 #Facilitiesmanagement
