With social tensions growing, the rise of the far right, and ever more alarming climate data, it's easy to look back at 2024 and be disheartened. But at the same time, this year we saw that across the world, there is huge backing for policies that support the wellbeing of people and our planet, now and for future generations. We saw it in the statistics we gathered in the Earth for All Survey - but also in the millions of people who spoke up and took action, whether in the spotlight or in their communities and their daily lives, for justice, equity, and a world where everyone can truly thrive. For 2025, we look forward to continuing to work towards an economic system that works for everyone: towards an Earth for All.

Human civilisation is on the brink of the next ‘giant leap’ in evolution, says Dr Nafeez Ahmed, member of the Earth4All Transformational Economics Commission and The Club of Rome, and Distinguished Fellow at The Schumacher Institute for Sustainable Systems. However, he warns that progress could be thwarted by centralised far-right political projects such as the incoming Donald Trump administration. In a new study published in the journal Foresight, Ahmed developed a “Planetary phase shift” theory as a new systems framework to navigate the evolutionary transformation of human civilisation.
